I have a site that has 4 pages trying to rank for the same keyword. Unfortunately, the page that is ranking the best is not the one that should be at the top. How do I correct this issue so the correct page is ranking in the SERPs?

I get this issue a lot from new customers when they have multiple pages with the exact same title tags. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Google is going to choose what it thinks is the highest quality page. Just focus on ranking the page that IS doing well, scrape the others or combine them into one super page.

How about placing a rel-canonical tag on all the other pages and send all the SEO juice to the main homepage? The homepage should be ranking for this keyword as its the primary service of the business (its not even ranking right now). The other pages are essentially inner pages.

My question, does keyword relevance etc get passed through a rel-canonical tag? Say I put a rel-canonical tag on a page, will the page its pointing to rank after a few days even though its not currently showing up in the SERPS?

Never tried this before. Has anyone else?

Sorry for the bump up, but has anyone else used the above method?

Thanks, but that silo effect will not help me since this is a large e-commerce website. I need to figure out how to get the homepage to rank for the main keyword and not an inner page. Placing a rel-canonical tag on the inner page pointing to the homepage is all I can think of right now.
