onlydomains.com, find their pricing to be reasonable.
    There's also eurodns.com

eurodns is extremely expensive. try 101domains (they also aren't cheap but are still way cheaper than eurodns and cover most tld's).

notice that both 101domains and eurodns (and some other intl registrars) sometimes say domain is available, when it's not. all they do sometimes is ping it, if it timeouts, they say it's available. so double check with a 'reliable' registrar like godaddy or a local registrar of that tld.

Never go with Godaddy, you will only have trouble. Try namecheap.com, good customer service and good prices.

On .it domains you shouldn't have so much problems, you should use fake details but the problem is that you risk a lot (and not only to lose the domain!)

for a lot of european domains you can use internetbs.net, they are used by many on this forum. $8.18 for .fr. free privacy (when applicable)
