I need to buy bitcoin anonymously, don't want it to be linked to me in any way. how can I do this without paying an arm and a leg?
the only bitcoin atm that I could find which does not require ID charges a 20% fee which is crazy.

localmonero works. no need for kyc
 
You'll have to find an independent exchanger locally. Anything money that you transfer online can lead to you.
