spam spam spam...spam again. But first, be diplomatic, show them fully what you have done and the time spent. Bill them, if they do not respond. Tell them you are taking legal proceedings.

Bring your website above your competitor that way he will drop from one place.

Well, one lesson from this should be to pump links to a site you create, then use a 301 redirect to their site. No pay, no traffic lol. I have not had to do that, but again, I mainly work on my own stuff with a little for others on the side.

There was a great thread on here about proping up your clients websites with your own site which have been redirected. I can't remeber the title at the moment, but you might find it in search. Had you of doen that you could have removed the redirects and watched the site drop down.

However, now I think your best plan is to do what J0Kerz says. Get above them with a new site or two and they will soon come back to you. Maybe even sell them the new sites when done?

If they are just assholes, why not send some porn traffic to their site, along with some pills sites traffic, that usually will dust the ranking, and sign them up for link exchanges. If you still have access to their site, create a hidden page for the link exchange then just go nuts with it. That will usually kill the site, but do not hold hope of getting paid if you do that.

Either that or just go balls out and rank them for some very unsavory terms with massive xrumer and scrapebox blasts.

well if you have access to the sites back end then all you have to do is

1. del keywords
2. del desriptions
3. del h1,h2,h3 tages
4. change the directory names/ page names and this will render all the backlinks void apart from the main domain name

When the google spiders pass that site again..by by site rankings

I didnt think that when people link to you it made a differece, you cant control who links to you, im sure any attempts to de rank them by getting dodgy sites to link to them will struggle.

Has anyone got good evidence of this?

My fave is to have people consider who actually owns the site.

Often the consultant designs and builds the site/software/documentation/etc for which he is to be paid for what is in effect a transfer of ownership to the people paying. Under these circumstances, no pay equals no transfer.

I'm sure we can all imagine what the pissed off designer can tell the deadbeat client about what the designer will do and the changes that will be made with his site, how much traffic the site will get, and what effect the new information will have on the deadbeat's business.
