How to block Site Explorer, MajesticSEO and Seomoz's Opensiteexplorer showing our backlinks to the competition?

    Why there isn't a way to opt-out?

Nothing works, even if you deindex your domain, block these bots in robots.txt, block everything with .htaccess, they are still showing your backlinks.

If you don't agree with an opt-out method remember...what you steal from one competitor, 10 competitors can steal from you and if you have a blackhat site it can be easily found and reported.

I don't know any method, Site Explorer shows links to your site from the site it indexes, if you don't have access to them you can't stop yahoo.

But you can create thousands of links from another site and those will fill the pages and keep your sources secret

Most important backlinks (higher pr, aged domain, etc ) always placed higer in SiteExplorer, so its imposiible to hide yor baclinks with this method.

Change your sites T&C and include a "service fee" for automated data scraping without writing consent...wait a month & then send them your first invoice with reference to your T&C & service fees.

$1000 per kb scraped, & 15% discount for invoices settled in 7days...LOL

Use the goooooogle and search for Ultimate htaccess Blacklist perishable press. Make sure you grab the most current version - and read all the comments because sometimes the block list can do unexpected things.

I uses it lots to keep baddies away.

Seriously - doesn't keep out serious scrapers, but the user-agents the scripts block include majestic et al.
