I run a classifieds site. Currently, I have nearly 400 pages indexed in the first month.

How many pages do I need to become an authority site? And how long does my site need to be up?

I know no one can answer these questions but i would like a rough estimate.

Also, do I have to worry about sandboxing if I have thousands of pages indexed?

You pretty much answered your own questions...

A rough estimate would be.... When your site is getting so much natural traffic that you need to constantly buy more servers. Or when you appear on the Oprah Winfrey show lol :D

You don't have to worry about getting sandboxed because your pages are getting indexed.

I have 400 pages indexed already but my domain is only a month old. Do I have to worry about getting sandboxed?

I have had sites that are a month old and a few thousand pages indexed. Its really a small amount. If you launch with a million pages they might raise an eyebrow, a few thousand is nothing.

Indexed pages are a poor measurement of authority. Authority sites offer value, tend to have a high percentage of return visitors/direct traffic and have revenue to accommodate growth.

I mean I already have 400 pages indexed. If I do a direct blast at it, will I have to worry about sandboxing?

I noticed that most sites that get sandboxed are micro niched sites that have less than 50 pages.

If the 400 pages are 100% unique and have valuable content that your visitors will spread the word about it to others offline/online that are interested in the same niche then you have an authority site.

I guess you should go for backlinks. Make 10k of quality backlinks then you will never be sandboxed.

    Do you got that?

he said it best. sounds like a lot of freaking work so i'll just stick to MNS. I would say the lower your Alexa score, the more authority you have.

Yup + Alexa Rank is crazy misleading anyways.
A IM/webmaster related site with 1k uniques/day will usually easily outrank a more general site with
10k uniques/day in Alexa :D even mozrank is more reliable :D
