Some bastard just charged back 250$ from a couple landing pages i made for him on 9th July.

I was away from computer, but i didn't even have time to reply to the chargeback call..

He opened the paypal dispute at 3 pm but i received a notice that the case was over at 3.28 pm and that he had won!!

Now that i just logged in and noticed that bulshit, i called them to paypal, and look at the shit they told me:

"Sorry but when you sell intangible goods/electronic goods disputes are in favour of buyer becouse we don't offer buyer protection in those cases"

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? SO IF I PAY 1K$ FOR ANY ONLINE SERVICE AND I OPEN A PAYPAL DISPUTE IT'S AN INSTA-WIN FOR ME, THE BUYER, USING THEIR CRITERIA?

How da hell can i prevent this bulshit happening again, since i'm studying at college and these online service i provide is one of my main incomes, but i don't want to lost more silly chargebacks like these!! I even make my customers send the payment as service/goods with a note saying "Thank you for the Landing page" but that wasn't enough!

Please help people, i'm so dissapointed and frustrated, that bastard left my account balance in negative

When I was reading the word 'bastard', I instantly relate it to your profile picture.

Anyway, there isn't any way you can avoid these, it's kinda like a risk which sellers have to take when using Paypal. I am pretty sure you have a serious problem with your business considering it took you 30 minutes before the dispute closes that you came up with an excuse on top of your mind.

Anyhow, it's a small lesson that you learn, just accept it and move on with your life.

Unfortunately, it is situation you are basically f'ed.

I have had paypal decide disputes that quickly as well. Not waiting for a response. I have also had paypal side with me, because they found no evidence that the dispute was an unauthorized chargeback. For when they find it to be an unauthorized chargeback, you have no protection unfortunately, even if the buyer sends you a scan of an ID. Paypal doesn't care.

What you can do, is try to screen people better. Get a shopping cart that can use anti-fraud filters like maxmind, to better protect yourself. It won't be 100% and you could still get screwed. Larger amounts, if you don't know the person, only accept wire transfers or bit-coins. Wire transfers are safer (not 100%), while bitcoins are 100% safe since chargebacks aren't possible.

Or, only provide your work via CD and mail it to clients. Then you have proof of postage and the item is tangible.

What about making them send the payment with a note saying: "I'm purchasing virtual goods, i won't chargeback. I sent an email to their email confirming this". And then i make sure they send an email from the email that their use for Paypal account.

    Would this work?

P.S: "considering it took you 30 minutes before the dispute closes that you came up with an excuse on top of your mind." I wasn't online today, i just came on 6 hours later the dispute got closed.

Nope. Being a virtual good, doesn't matter what the buyer puts in the note to seller or how many hoops you make the buyer jump through. If paypal finds it to be an unauthorized chargeback, you lose.

And how do the big sellers here in the forum, who are offering over 1k$ seo services, deal with this flaw?
