Ok I want to let a friend of mine use the VPS I have with XSSERVER. But I want him to be presented with a fresh desktop and not with the one I have with all my documents and applications.

Is that possible?? The VPS is using Windows 2008 Server Edition...

try going to start > admin tools > computer management then open up local users and groups. Then click on the users folder and right click add new. You might have to add it into the administrative group as well, depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

I'm not sure if XSS allows that on their VPS though.

Hey, you need to assign this user right of a remote desktop user, i dont know if you can add more than 1 remote user to your VPS. Let me check it at my vps also :)

Yes, it is possible. Just confirmed it. More than 1 user can connect the vps at the same time :)

Here are the steps to allow him RDP rights.

    1) Go to Administrator Tools > Computer Management > Local User and Groups
    2) Select the Users
    3) Select the particular user you need to assign some rights say "alpha"
    4) Right Click on user "alpha", select "properties"
    5) Select the Tab "Member Of"
    6) Now Click "Add"
    7) Now Click "Advanced" Button
    8) You will see a window pop up with a Title bar "Select Groups", on this window you wil see 3 buttons, Click the "Find Now" button
    9) It will search all kind of user and display the results in "search results" box
    10) Here you can select "Remote Desktop User"
    11) Click "OK" Button
    12) Again "OK" Button

and you have done :) , now create the remote desktop connection and check if you can logged in using the new RDP user credentials . Beware with assigning premissions to your friend, specialy with the program and directories

Hope this works for you :)
