A few months ago i added linked my Google+ account to my blog, which puts my profile picture next to my blog links. It took a while to figure out but i think that it's a really good way to get your page noticed when you aren't #1 on the SERP.

But another really cool tip i noticed was that you could also add a fake rating. Using Rich Snippets in your HTML you can add any rating, stars or # of reviews.

And here's the actual HTML i added to get 5 stars, 4.6 out of 5 and 619 reviews:

    <noscript><span class="reviewaggregate hreview-aggregate"><span class="item"><span class="fn">WEB SITE NAME</span></span><span class="rating">4.6</span><span class="count">619</span></span></noscript>

you can change the rating and review number to whatever you want, make it look like you have 5,000 reviews.

after i added this script i checked it using the google rich snippet testing tool:
    hxxp://www(dot)google(dot)com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets

I think it's a quick and easy way to make your page stand out more on google search, kind of fool people into thinking your page has a high review.

    EDIT:
    Good point Duffers

Looks like a method....but I would be wary of posting your actual url in a well read forum especially as its about how to fake google.

Why did you repost this when it doesn't even work anymore? Your site has no stars anymore

the star rating did work until i linked my pages to Google+. Once my profile picture appeared, the star rating and # of reviews went away.

Although when i check my pages today in the rich snippets testing tool they all still show up. I'm pretty sure that if i removed the profile picture, the ratings would come back too

I used the star method back a couple of months ago when it worked.. Man did I receive a lot of visitors for my ranking, but then they took it away again.

No, you actually have to apply to Google and if they feel like it, they may enable stars.

I forget the link but it is here on the forum somewhere.

Use the search function for Rich Snippets.

    well for example:
if you search for "angry birds" in google, next to the app store site it has a rating of 4/5 stars, 51,876 votes - $0.99.

You used to be able to enter in that information into your Rich Snippet Data. So you could make your site stand out with super high ratings. You could enter in any numbers you wanted.

I thought it still worked but i guess people are saying it doesn't now. My bad.

if you are using blogger, just create a new Gadget - HTML and then paste the code into that.
