Meet the Samwer brothers from Germany.
They copied the idea of eBay, launched their own version called Alando and sold it back to eBay for $50 million in just 100 days.
And they didn’t stop there.
They went on to clone Amazon (Lazada), Airbnb (Wimdu), and even Uber (EasyTaxi).
Some of their projects took off, others didn’t but they still made billions.
Today, they run their own “startup factory” Rocket Internet.

Didn’t come up with an idea? No big deal.
The world doesn’t always reward originality but it definitely pays for speed.

I have read about these guys. They blackmail and extort companies like this. Hmmm.

They copy an idea and then make some unique twists that appeal to the users, then scale up and sell the business. This itself takes a lot of drill. They are an inspiration.

I know one guy that has been copying for ages (more than 15 years, I know this guy).

He never had any success. He keeps trying. Maybe one day he will take off but not for now.

The reality is that, even copying, is an art that not everyone can proficiently execute.

Heard about their story. Cloned services that was not available locally and eventually the global brand bought them out to establish a foothold in that country. Clever geniuses if you ask me.

Just copying alone won't make anyone successful. They might've funding to develop, ideas to add unique twists, marketing strategies to promote, or backed by shadow organizations. We can only see surface and make assumptions. I'm sure the reality would be different.
