How these hashtags work?

I am new to this social media and all, never used twitter or facebook for anything.

I am not into internet marketing for living, I am into some offline business but i can get some online leads aswell. So how can i use this hashtags for advertising my business.

Any help would be useful.

hashtags are what you tag your post with, which help people to find your content

so if you posted an image related to your business, you would tag it #businessterm1 #businessterm2 #businessterm3

where businessterm is related to your business. Making sure the term has traffic means people will then find your posts

When using hashtags, do the research of what your competition does with them. You can use hashtags in your posts that they use, and attract their customers. But you must find a balance between the most popular hashtags and the specific hashtags related to your business - if you use too general hashtags you won't get noticed in the crowd.
