How the fk are these ranking

This site is ranking for the word "online dating" as they have only a few links arround the web are they using backhat like prstorm

Rankings are not based solely on pr and backlinks. Backlinks simply help you beat your competition if google determins that the information on both sites are equally useful for the specific keyword. First focus on content and on site seo, then work on link building by commenting on do follow blogs / forums and directory submissions.

The reason this site is ranking for online dating is because they are most likley a huge company that gets thousands upon thousands of uniques to their site per day which really helps with rankings, along with their content being directly related to "online dating"

At first it seems to have 7 backlinks.
It actually has 4772 backlinks, according to my Seoquake.

And looking at the links through yahoo site explorer they really know how to positionate it. Pros.

but I disagree about the fact that Google shows good content sites first on serps. Imho it's basically a game of backlinks and SEO in general.

I'm on page 1 for "free london dating" and i've only got about 400 backlinks, weird. If you want to get on a par with these guys in the SERPs, then look at their backlink profile and see if you can get some easy links by copying them.
