Hey guys, I'm new. I've been lurking these threads for some time now, and I came over that thread talking about how AC was too saturated to make good money anymore.

I was wondering is this the case with most of the contract sites out there? Is the current economic crisis affecting online article writing in the same fashion as it has affected other industries irl?

    Thanks,
    Jerry

    brilliant insight.

people losing their jobs > try to find ways to make money online > more article writers > competition drives down prices.

I've found it easier to hire people who write quality English articles for as much as I used to outsource articles to Indians.

Personally speaking, I have taken the beating of global economic downturn. I had to reduce my basic rate to some extent in order to get regular work. One can notice changes in the rates offered to the writers. Time and again, I say writers to choose an area of expertise and spend time in that field. Over a period of time you will be paid what you deserve but you need to be patient for that to happen. Avoid being desperate to get work and thereby reduce your standards. IMF's may not be a great option to get regular work at good price, so try out other platforms.

I'm a native English speaker, a high school graduate, and a hard worker already. I would work eight+ hours a day doing whatever if I knew I could support myself.

It's just rather difficult to find jobs with no experience in my city so I'm looking for some sort of income on the internet so I'm not out on the streets. Nothing incredible.

Is making like $60 a day unfathomable in this economy?

Writing articles? Sure.. You can figure about $4-5 / for a 500 word article. Problem is keeping up a pace that you can make living on can be difficult.. It requires a lot of focus and you get burnt out quick.

This is a legitimate consideration, however it's not implausible to simply lie on your resume and make it up with good work... just like everywhere else.:D
