    Hey Guys,

My business partner and I started a medical marijuana consulting business here in Michigan and I'm trying to figure out the best ways to promote it.

Michigan passed a law that allows patients to get a patient evaluation from a doctor, and if they are approved, the doctor will sign a paper that allows them to get their medical marijuana card and legally smoke and grow marijuana in Michigan.

So these potential patients come to our office, where we take their vitals and set them up with a doctor that interviews them.

What are some good ideas to promote this service?

Here is what we've done so far:
-passed out business cards to the local headshops (places that sell marijuana pipes, etc)
    -created a FB page
    -created a twitter account

I wanted to get your guys ideas on how to drive more clients to our business. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Find locations of doctors offices that specialize in aliments that are legal "excuses" to get the card: eg. Docs that treat glaucoma or cancer, radiation etc. Then scope out placed to advertise: eg a grassy median to put down signs, bathrooms of nearby restaurants that you can "tag" with stickers etc. Get creative.

Check out your local free weekly magazines.... The kind of magazines which are local to your community which are free, supported by ads, and are usually in places like Juice Bars, Hair Salons, Starbucks, etc.... advertise in there. In our local area our weekly free mags that you can get from any Jamba Juice or whatever, are full of medical marijuana ads.

How much are these leads worth to you? Could offer payment to someone based on number of people they get in your door and paying whatever fee you charge.

you mean you didn't buy any domains with keywords _medical cannabis_ or whatever your term is.

I would buy a couple domains-

I'm kidding - I did and the states haven't even passed medical yet.

Can I get a review copy please?

No but seriously. Here is what I would do.

    - I would post ads on Craiglist. Get creative. There is a bunch of different sections you can post in for this.
    - If you can run the business nationwide, buy some ad space on some of the big grow forums like 420.com. See if they can geo target (even better)
    - Contact a direct mailing company and send out fliers in the mail.
    - Go to Phish, Disco Biscuits, Moe, Gov Mule, ect ect or even festivals and pass out fliers there.
    - Go to the dog park, college campuses, or anywhere else pot heads hand out and do the same.
    - Newspaper ads

If I think of something else I will post it here.

I have my doctors recommendation I live in northern california and when ever i go to the medical marijuana dispensaries they have magazines with ads for physicians with deals and low prices i got mine in sacramento for $100 but i seen hella ads for some in san jose and it was only $40 you already know where im going when i have to renew it but also I have a couple apps on my android phone for some dispensaries in oakland (harborside and the vapor room) and they have ads too I dont know if they have any out there but its worth looking in to you could aslo make a pdf on growing tips and put your information in there and give it away at marijuana forums. Thats just a few ideas.

Here is Colorado, one of MMJ capitals, I would vote California as the other, the local weekly liberal independant newspapers have been saved from financial ruin by the MMJ dispensaries. They take up 2 - 8 full page ads in the back of these newspapers. There are also some web directories that specialize in this stuff.

Last year I was talking to folks in Oakland ca who had gone to the original University for the subject. If you are not up on it, you attend different lenght classes that explain how to operate different parts of the new industry by Ca legal standards. As I recalled they were doing classes in your state also. I would opt to go to Oakland and see how folks are advertising their business.

It would be better than re inventing the wheel. Probably save you time and money to boot.
