I'm developing a site now that is somewhat unique and is related to the alternative news/conspiracy/political niche. I'm just wondering how should I go about making money on it? I figure my options are:

    1. Accept donations like a lot of similar sites do
    2. Charge a sign-up fee
    3. Charge a monthly membership
    4. Place ads on my site

I'm leaning towards placing ads on my site but I'm just curious how successful that could really be unless you have 100,000 + visitors a week/month, etc...I personally don't know anyone who really clicks on any of these ads on webpages, so are they really worth it?

That's a great high converting niche ... Put together a free doomsday check list, build your email list, and sell a comprehensive guide to "surviving the apocalypse" to your subscribers.

Yea I'm not sure what keywords you are targeting, but im sure they can't be buyers keywords. This would probably eliminate most forms of advertisements on your site (adsense is an option, but still..). You know your niche best, but I would start slow. I would definately not start with a monthly or sign up fee.

The subjects available on the site to discuss are pretty broad but it's definitely geared towards alternative news, conspiracy, and fringe topics.

Then you can try David icke for the lizard man affiliate.
Or something similar products, amazon books, merchandize, etc.
Some says, conspiracy theory could be new religion.. at least you can profit from it. :)

Yes, this is probably what I'll end up doing. There's a ton of stuff related to this niche that can be sold. I'll just have to sign up for multiple affiliate accounts to make the most of it.

1 and 4 , don't charge people to use your site, it will go downhill fast.
