the question is the title there is an app that I wanted to download for mindfulnness meditation called com I found it but I'm scared it's can infect my phone in some way, and it's insane they charge $10 a month just to listen to a video or two of meditation music.

Ransomware is a big deal with these fake apps, hard to say what's in it without looking at the source code

i used cracked apk's for years never had issue. but i too worry maybe they put something malicious in there. i don't have any sensitive data on my phone anyway. no sim, can't make calls.
using xprivacy gives some sense of security by prompting you and letting you allow/deny when the app wants to do something it doesn't have to: ie use internet or access phone/webcam.

Use bluestacks emulator and try and install the apk there and see if it causes problems.
Same as you would with a VM for a dodgy .exe

Kinda unrelated to op but I find a some windows programs these days have really shit hot VM detection, I've taken to using a spare laptop with a cloned OS I can quickly refresh. Had a really hard time finding embroidery digitizing software for a project, that stuff costs £2k a licence and a lot of them use hardware dongles to prevent piracy.

I dont see how its unrelated to the OP. I had an apk file I didnt trust so I installed it in bluestacks emulator and watched the traffic with wireshark.
