So I'm just working on some SEO using a new technique for finding KW and ranking..

The main keyword I'm using has the following data:

    Searches Per Month:

    2900

    Results with "keyword" in google:

    320,000

'Real' competing pages - (According to Stealth Keyword Analyzer):

    433

    Average PR of competing sites:

    1.2

    Results with intitle:"keyword":

    143,000

    Results with inurl:"keyword"

    134,000

Results with both inurl and intitle:

    128,000

    -----------------

My site has tons of unique content, decent on page SEO and is a few days old. Personally I think it is better and has more relevent and useful content than the other sites that are currently there.

    Competitor Analysis:

    According to SEO Spyglass:

My top competitor has 135 backlinks, non of them are higher than PR7
and most are PR1-4 or no PR at all.

    ----------------

I would really appreciate your thoughts on a keyword with these stats.

How long do you think it will take me to rank Number 1?

How hard do you think it will be?

Are there any other stats or information I should collect that will help me analyze the keyword and its competition further?

Really appreciate the feedback, this is my first run at the SEO side of internet marketing, before this it's been all Adwords and Emailing lists, fruitful but I feel it's time to move on.. I've been researching and reading about SEO for years now so I hope the knowledge I've collected will work when put to the test.

My SEO technique is a mixture of web2.0 properties pointed to money site with various other tiers below pointing at the web2.0 also pinging and bookmarking as I go.. I haven't started yet btw - just finished the money site.

EDIT: I can run a case study if you guys want and tell you how long it takes and what my method was..?

Shouldn't be too hard, but for that many searches, I don't know if it's worth it, depending on the money involved.

I have a further 2-3 keywords that should bring the total number of searches up to around 4,500 a month.

This is about learning the game at the start rather than making a lot of money. Once I get the technique down then I can move on to harder niches with potential for more money!

A question like this can never truly be answered because the answers you will get are all based off of personal experience.

Since you said that this is your 1st attempt at SEO and ranking a site, it will most likely take you some time to see some results.

The best thing you can do is use this opportunity to really test and track your results with SEO and find out what works for you and what didn't.

If you use this as a learning opportunity and build upon it, your next attempt will be much smoother and you will get better results.

Thanks for the reply! I guess what I'm really asking everyone is: Is this a good starting point for my first attempt or way to hard?

I moved over from Gaming/Casino markets and actually decided to make a whole casino review site which I did, only to later discover that you have to actually do the KW research before making the site!

I found out that it was going to be extremely hard as there aren't really any decent longtail keywords with any real searches in this niche so I thought I'd get to grips with SEO on a much smaller scale and then return to the gambling niche later on..

So what I really want to know is, is this a good starting point?

I know it will vary with experience and users but for someone who is good and experienced with SEO, how long would it take them to rank a KW like this?

Yukinari84 is right, you can't determine a niche simply stats. Are there authority sites on the first page, this will make it harder.Alot of factors.
I tend just to get on with it,I review my work after a couple of months.
I've seen me hitting the first page in 2 days, some niches take alot longer.

You can over analyse a niche.

Read some of the great information contained within these walls.Your technique is the basic fundamentals.PersonallyI make my 1st and 2nd tier web 2.0's as good as any website content wise. You can build up some decent PR web 2.0's overtime which is the point,to strenghen your link juice from them.
After tier 2 I tend to go fully automated. You need a very good set of proxies todo things right or your IP gets kicked and with it all your web 2.0's.

The basic aim is to create a spiders web of backlinks with your money site in the middle but alot of interlinking getting there. The more time you spend with your first 2 tiers the stronger the result and the higher the odds they stay.

How old is the number #1 site? I've ranked a similar type niche in 2 days, but it was an easy niche, yours might not be because we don't know it so you will not get an accurate answer to your question because it is dependant on the niche.
Just get on with it,you'll learn more that way than asking for information which can't be accurate unless you giveaway the niche.

That's going to be rough, but you can do it. It won't be easy though. Will definitly take a little while - depending on a ton of different factors. But yes won't be easy
