With the advent of so many advanced email scraping softwares leaving your email on websites and forums is no less than a headache. But there are some simple yet efficient ways in which you can dodge the spammers attempt to get your email.

    1. Various javascript and css techniques are available which will mask your email from the spammers. A search on google will yield many javascript and css codes that you can place in your source code which will hide your email from spammers and bots. This can become tedious for someone who does not know programming.

    2. A second simpler way is to make an image file of your email and use that on websites and forums. Bots and softwares are unable to scrape images.

    3. The most simplest and effective way is to provide your email on forums and websites in the following manner

    email at domain name

eg : genius.af at gmail dot com

This way bots and software scrapers wont be able to identify your email.

    Hope this helps,
    Blackhat_Boy..

To expand on the second point, www.mylivesignature.com is a very good place where you can make your own image signatures

Method 3 does not offer any security from advanced scrapers. It is very easy to write a script that looks for "blah at blah dot com" or different variations thereof.

Method 1 can be defeated if your scraper uses a browser to do the scraping as document.body.innerText will yield your decoded javascript.

If the scraper is really advanced it would download the pic and run gocr or some similar ocr program to get your email address.

About the only highly secure way I can think of hiding your email address is to turn it into a hard to read captcha style pic.

neoblah1984 all the methods you have listed are hypothetical. It has not been implemented by any email scraper yet.

if you don't mind, im adding more tips:

    1) email address to image: http://services.nexodyne.com/email/index.php (equals to your second point)
    2) use a disposable/temporary email address like mailinator on forums
    3) or just use a gmail address as secondary and forward the incoming emails to your main email address, gmail filters out almost all of the spams, so you get on your main address almost 0 spam (personally im using this 'method' for years and it's quite good), i never reveal my main address anywhere, just the secondary gmail

Another nice trick if you have your own domain name, is to have a catch-all email address, and then signup to websites like this:

    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]

That way you will both see WHERE the Spam comes from, and you can simply block all mail from the "infected" email-address.
If you post your email in a forum-post or something like that, you can either use the same email that you used to sign up for the forum, or make a special one:
    [email protected]

With a catch-all email you don't have to create all these email-addresse, whatever is sent to [email protected] will be recieved and can be read from a single login :)

On my personal website, I have my email address included as an image and I do not receive ANY spam. It has been on there for a couple years and there are many linkbacks to the site.
