Argh im so pissed, i left my computer on whilst i went out, came back and got the blue screen of death, couldnt even turn it back on... Ended up being able to turn it on, then everything was back to default, registry was empty, pretty much have to install everything again =(

I have never had anything like this happen before, hope it wasnt a personal attack. Anyways, I was just running tubespinner, it didnt last for long cause my video only has 800 views, didnt even get up to the ratings. Im not blaming tubespinner cos the fact that I was online = chance of an attack. I tried to run it again, and of course, its not in the registry, do i have to re install it for it to be in the windows registry again?

Why cant these dumb hackers and virus droppers use their 'skills' to make some cash instead of wasting others time. I spose this might be cos of downloading torrents and shit.

Anyways, hackers like this suck! I must share the hate :P

never had a hacker personally attack my pc that i know of and its 110% UN-protected loool

if they really wanted to get into my pc that bad then they will so why try and block it... i dont keep my bank details here... just a few scripts and ebooks and porno photos of me naked (lmao that should stop them dead in their tracks).....

hacking does gain something.... personal feeling of acheivement and knowing you have annoyed one poor fucker :P

glad im not a hacker loool what a waste of time

Ouch, that sucks, hope you had a backup (I backup religiously now). I had a similar thing happen to me, only I was in front of the computer when it happened. I got hit with a pretty heavy power surge. I had a surge protector and it got fried also. Hopefully you will be able to recover some of your lost data.

I would suggest running a data recovery program, they can be invaluable in recovering important data. Just look for a torrent and you should find one. I have had good luck with easy recovery pro.

Good luck.

i know why they do it. but srsly, lol, if i knew how to do that shit... i would use it for cash not jollies, anyhu cash gives a feeling of achievement for me.

I didnt lose any data luckily, the registry got wiped though, and ive got a shitload of programs i need to re install. The whole 'fung shui' or however you spell it, is ruined. I feel violated and raped xD

I just want to get tubespinner up and running for now. Dumb registry.

sorry to hear this. and i can guarantee my software is 100% clean. i would know way in any shape or form do anything like the above. im not one of the peeps. i dont even know how to hack a calculator.. would this be really from a attack? if so how? how can the fcukers do that?

Yeah a lot of people don't backup until something like this happens.

Big hard drives are cheap these day and you can use a program like Acronis that lets you create an image of an entire disk and its real easy to use. You can restore your entire drive or just restore specific files.

You might just have hardware failure as well so good to keep a backup so you can restore everything in an hour or two instead of trying to re-install everything and losing data.

I just wish i was using returnil. That would have solved everything lol... And yeah dan, i didnt think your program would do that anyways, was just wondering it may have been a way for hackers to get in? I dunno, im prob just unlucky. Now i just need to get returnil back up and running so if it happens again, i can just restart back to before the shit. Anyone who worries about this shit happening to them... get returnil =)

Probably nothing more that xp crashing, hard drive lil corrupt, etc...

Good you didn't lose anything.

From personal experience I can say that this is (in all likelyhood) not a personal attack. A hacker would have installed a virus and rebooted your PC (a BIOS virus if they want to be really mean) or exchanged your registry for a copy of theirs or download the contents of your PC and left no trace. A hacker wouldn't delete your registry, that's just a minor (although fairly major to you) inconvenience.

i am amazed by people who don't have backup drives, since it is only a matter of time until
their onboard hdd fails. external drives are cheap these days and owning one (or more) will
always payoff.

yeah i need to get a back up drive. problem is, im so disorganized.

I got a couple of those portable USB drives from WD.

Backup my personal stuff and (very important) all the backups of my sites.

how big is ure usb storage? ive got a 256mb one lol, so tiny

Did you write down & google your BSOD error msg? That could have helped diagnose what went wrong.

I went to have a look at my sister's broken computer the other day. It boots to a BSOD, but boots into Safe Mode normally. It turns out there was a virus/malware/fake antispyware program on there named
Code:
AntiSpywareXP 2009
that seems to be running rampant lately. I'm not sure if she tried to fix it herself, or if it just fucked up her computer on it's own.

Did you try Safe Mode?

I really should get into the habit of backing up my stuff as well. I have the resources right there waiting for me to use it, I guess I just get caught up in stuff/forget about it. I know I'll regret it when a disaster happens.

on this subject. does anyone know of any good external hard drives? im in uk so would need to buy uk based. but yeh ive seen many and quite cheap. just dont know which to go for. or wont it matter?
