I'm curious as to what things you take into consideration when saying a price to a client for SEO. How do you manage to explain him that there is no guarantee ? Also how much do you charge for page2/page1 ? You have a different price for rankings ?

I'm curious about all those facts, as I probably will try some offline SEO, and I want to know how others are making their prices based on competition and so on, so some examples would be more than welcomed.

    Thanks guys.

It all depends on competition mate.
BTW,if he is paying you the amount you ask in advance to get a particular ranking then you need to provide him that ranking.

flat monthly fee, up front. Ranges from $500 to $5000 depending on what they want done, competition, etc.

When a client approaches me, the First thing i'll do is keyword research.

I check the CPC for [Exact] match in KWT and multiply it with total number of exact searches. For ex if a keyword has 3k exact searches per month at $1 CPC, 3000 x 1 = $3k. If he is getting 3k Unique visitors through Adwords, he will be spending around $3k to $5k per month for Ad Campaigns.

I'll be charging 60% of that $3k = $1800 to get his site ranked on first page. I'll charge 100% if they don't want to pay full fee upfront and like to pay 50% upfront and remaining after completion.

If top 10 competiting pages seems tough to outrank, i'll charge double the fee mentioned above or even triple. All this for Top 8 - 10
(First page) ranking. If he expects to get it ranked on top 5/3 or first position, the pricing doubles again.

With having years of experience in WH and BH SEO, we can easily estimate how long will it take to achieve ranking but i'll always ask extra 1 month deadline to complete the project. There is no guarantee for ranking cos its not in our hand to manipulate search results but i'll keep working on until the desired ranking is achieved. No matter if it takes couple extra months. I won't charge a dime or simply ignore and move on to another project until the ranking is achieved.

That being said, i haven't missed any estimated deadline except a few after this Panda V2 Update.

Next thing you've to keep in mind is make your clients happy before completing the project.

    How?

    Offer Free Compliments!

Usually in the meantime, i'll do extra keyword research and try to rank client's site for 2-3 longtail buyer keywords. They don't pay extra and they will be amazed to see those extra traffic but its just 2-3 hrs of extra work from our side. Doing this will bring you more money cos if they're happy they'll refer you to their friends and you get another Golden lead for just 3 hrs of work!

Very good explanation bezopravin, thank you.
One more question how exactly do you do WH seo for clients? I mean legit clients with good businesses, because for my sites I work with AMR, senuke X, scrapebox, and manual high quality backlinks, but for WH sites, I don't want to blast around with scrapebox...

A more solid backlink model based only on high quality backlinks and manual web 2.0s link tiers would be OK (client side) ?

As far as I'm aware as long as you aren't doing any BH stuff on their main money site and keep it to tier 1 and below in your link pyramid you should be ok. Not 100% sure though.

You can use Senuke X, Scrapebox even For WH sites. But the content should be original and shouldn't have spammy links. Scrapebox is like Swiss Army Knife. You can use it to find not only hundreds of thousands of niche related blogs but also article directories, web 2.0 properties, forums, youtube videos, facebook fanpages, twitter accounts and lot more where you can manually try to place link either by request or by rent.

The first thing i do for WH clients is fire up SEO Spyglass and IBP and find all backlinks of competitors. I then assign my office staffs(workers) to try to build link there or contact the owner of blog/fanpage/youtube video,etc..,

There is not much difference between WH and BH. In WH, we build links manually from niche related sites and in BH we simply spam it everywhere with automated tools like xrumer, scrapebox and AMR.

Either you choose WH or BH, the first thing you've to do is Optimize the OnSite SEO for your clients site. OnSite SEO not just means updating proper meta, alt, image, description tags but also to fix the w3 validation errors, reduce page loading time, compress image size, Fix all 404 errors, remove dead links,etc..,

    A
Well OnSite SEO Optimized site takes less than 60% of work involved in linkbuilding
