My probable business plan. The idea came reading http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/my-journey-discussions/533248-amazon-affiliates-journey-stable-income.html.

What you need to start an amazon product comparison/review site is:
  • domain + hosting
  • wordpress, plugins, themes (hardest choice)
  • articles, good products

What if I could offer you the following ( SaaS ):
  • secure hosting(dedicated IP address) + domain
  • custom made amazon review script with admin panel access, highly SEO optimized following Google guidelines and white hat practices, lifetime updates/upgrades
  • plenty of functionality and premium templates to choose from (let's face it, eg. looks like 1995 compared to this )
  • affiliates program
  • priceless weekly newsletter with advises

Basically, what I would offer takes the most time for you to do. And when you want to start every penny counts. I know most of you don't afford to pay 100$ for a website, which might return your investment in a couple of months.

So, what do you think of this? How much would you pay on a monthly basis for this service?

Thank you.

LE: You may specify the price quote I expect from you would be for everything above, excluding the domain. This way you have the ability to buy domains from anywhere you want.

I could buy the domain too and integrate it's cost in the monthly service cost.

Expand those points into something unique, useful and exclusive. Then you'll have a good idea and that will be your selling point.

Also get rid of the monthly plan. A one time payment is more attractive. You can ask for 300$ if you can provide quality and ROI then there would be no problem for customers to pay that much. But good luck guaranteeing ROI in affiliation marketing.

Hi UrsuAke,

I didn't say anything about ROI or guaranteeing ROI. One time payment doesn't work either, because if it's too high.
One time payment would be to sell a software copy to someone, which is unlikely to happen.

The problem is... it doesn't matter how nice their website looks if it's not getting traffic.
I think that unless the monthly plan is going to include some method of driving traffic for them, I don't really see the value (but that's just me)

@MacsBank, driving traffic is only up to the customer. He decides where to buy the articles from, link building.
I would only provide:white hat seo, hosting, software, web 2.0 template, etc.

It's like downloading wordpress: does it provide a method of generating traffic? No, everything depends on you.

Well there's your problem. There are services around offering turnkey websites and none are charging by the month. Your only angle would be if the info you provide in the newsletters is pure gold. Also, if you had exclusive affiliation programs that offer super commissions and guaranteed payment (not scams) then you would have the pitch to sell a monthly plan effectively.

Best of luck with your idea.

@UrsuAke exactly my thoughts! @Mareshal, I understand that driving traffic is up to the customer, but I don't see a value in the monthly plan unless there is some kind serious gold that I am missing. I can simply setup a wordpress site, get hosting, themes/plugins, etc for very cheap -- all of those are all very easy to come by and again, doesn't matter without the traffic.

@UrsuAke, please name one service that offers what I said above.

I came up with this idea because I don't want to spend 100$ from the start, but I can pay a monthly amount.

By "affiliation programs" I meant people refer other people to buy the software or subscribe to monthly(quarterely) service. I hope this is clear now.

@MacsBank, some people don't know what you know (just like facebook popup lockers...they're not for me, I can delete them from DOM and access the content )

Yeah, I understand that. I guess it could work for newbies -- just not sure how sustainable it is. Maybe you can give them a monthly fee with a future option to buyout and move the files etc to their own hosting if they choose.

Check the BHW marketplace, you'll find a few offering turnkey websites for aff marketing (review sites and such).

So your affiliation program consists in the fact that I pay you a monthly fee just to have the honor of selling your product via a referral program? Mate, referral programs are free to enlist... Don't want to be a negativist but your idea as it stands now is not appealing to a potential buyer. As MacsBank said there are loads of alternatives. I can pay someone on elance 50$ to install me a good WP theme with good on-page and get decent hosting for 25$/year. That's 75$ total. Why should I pay you 100$ for the same thing + a periodical newsletter which I probably won't read anyway?

Again, not wanting to sound negative but, this is the way the average buyer thinks. Prepare yourself for questions like this.

@UrsuAke, I didn't say that for someone to enlist to the affiliation program, should buy the product first. But, as any referral program, you get your commission after someone makes a purchase.

You're not negativist, just a realistic aproach and yes, I understand that and thank you, this is helping me a lot (I am not being sarcastic or ironic, just honest).
I am not going to argue with anyone regarding cheaper alternatives, I didn't say there aren't. Everything has a cheaper alternative, yet no one buys.
