A professional photographer asked me how much I want in order to get his site in the 1st page of Google for the keyword wedding photographers.

I don't know what to ask!
It's a difficult keyword and needs a lot of work,
but from the other hand I don't want to lose this work.

    What do you think guys?

Almost forgot to say, that the site is Flash, no Robots.txt, no Sitemap, no content, no backlinks.

    I wouldn't charge a one-time fee, rather a start up + Monthly fee.
Well do you actually know what you are doing ?

Of course start up + monthly.
I was thinking 700$ for bringing the site on the first page and 300$ per month to keep it there.
And yes, I know what I'm doing. I just never had a similar keyword.

hmm if he is asking for one keyword you better make him understand a little about onsite and try to make him redesign the website.
I would charge for this competition keyword around 700-800 without going down for upkeep cuz the competition is very high

lmaooooo 700$ then $300 to maintain? Have you even seen the competition for that keyword? Not to mention his site is fucking FLASH. For gods sake if you don't know what you're doing, don't do it for other people for MONEY.

Unless you're talking about maps/local listings, which is an entirely different ballgame.

first, you need to advise your client that he needs to add his city to the end of that keyword
second, I would take no less than $1000 a month for this. It's too competitive and not worth the headache. $300? are you kidding me?

    I know 700 + 300 is not much! I said I'm thinking abou it..
I didn't decide the price, that's why I posted this question in the first place. To ask what you think.

Wedding photography is a very competitive market.
The first site has more than 40.000 backlinks.
Top 10 sites have minimum PR 3.
Finally none of them is 100% Flash.

So, I know it's not going to be easy.
And I know what SEO Companies normally charge.
    seomoz.org/blog/seo-pricing-costs-of-services

But I don't live in US, UK, Canada, Germany or a country where people really know the value of SEO and pay good money.

I already asked the client if he is sure about it.
Also, I already got the (same) site ranking number 1 for my country wedding photographer and my country wedding photographers.
I explained to him that being on the 1st page of Google.com for a general phrase like wedding photographer - when your service is actually only for your country- could be a large risk. Because he would have to convince the customers to pay extra money and get married in our country or pay him the ticket and bring him to their country. But he believes that ROI is good enough.

Tell him that if he's hiring you, you make the decisions on what keywords you decide to rank for. Explain to him how expensive ranking for that keyword will be, and the money he'll make off it will be the same as ranking in his local city/state and that will cost much less, and if he doesn't agree and still wants to do it, charge him and arm and leg or find yourself better clients.
