How much would you charge for monthly SEO to rank a site on the first page for terms like:

Seattle limo service - 1300 monthly searches in Google
Seattle limo - 1600 monthly searches in Google

They're hard competition KWs. Keep in mind this would bring in about $300-1000 in business minimum per day.

Take your costs of ranking the site into account and decide accordingly. Difficult to just give a quote without having all the details. Is the site in question new or aged? How is its existing backlink profile. What sorts of links would be directing at it and a lot of similar questions would need to be addressed.

I think charge should be reasonable for both.

I'm not looking for quotes. I'm just wondering what would be a good price for me to charge.

Aged website (8-9 years), backlink profile is pretty weak, few local citations, and lots of NAP inconsistencies.

You can charge whatever, but the right thing to do is charge whatever you would charge anyone else for the same amount of labor. It seems misguided and unethical to consider what the client will gain, and charge more if they make more money, or to consider how many more sales they will get (unless your rate is based on their sales). Just pick a fair rate to charge for your labor, and charge that rate to everyone regardless of the measure of benefit the client receives. That's my humble opinion.

If you are completely unsure, look at your competition and charge what similarly positioned companies charge. If you are a large corporation with overhead, charge what other corporations who are similarly positioned charge. If you are a one man show, mostly freelance, then charge what the small seo freelancers are charging, which is not much. Good luck and stay ethical, you will do better in the long run.

What do you think this company would pay to rank these hard-to-rank KWs, and without being too grumpy? We don't know what they are and how much they can afford... Of course we have no inputs on these issues so there cannot be a "great" advice for you... You can separate from the market rate if you deserve the higher position, and you can do the job esp if these are high-value hard-to-rank KWs. If you are not too sure, it seems the case, then go with market rate, or even just below it, and add extra professionalism to your work including your AS service to impress the client and get more business from them in future. Good luck!

    P.S.:

The KW does looks difficult. If you're able to rank a site among the top 5, and make it stick, then you are in for great SEO work for a long time to come. Come back and open a SEO service thread here if you achieve the top 5 there!

This is how i calculate usually. Get adwords price for the keywords / month when its on first 3 spots and then divide it to 10 which means 10% of the adwords costs. You can go up to 20% if they are willing to pay.

    I would do $500 / month for 2 keywords, find a solid SEO service at $99 / month for 2 keywords = $401 profit.
