And where do you guys add backlinks, in the comment or in the space where you put your name?
Great question. The degree to which your site's ranking will be improved will depend on the page rank of the blog you are commenting on. The less authoritative that site is, the less potent the link juice will be.
Most commenting systems allow for anchor tags to be placed in the comment section. Some may allow it in the name section. It really depends on what the blog administrator has installed for commenting.
You should note that this isn't always the best strategy for building backlinks because a lot of commenting systems are set up as no-follow so even if you put a link in your comment, it doesn't count toward increasing your page rank. If you really want to spread awareness of your message, be sure you are adding value with every post you make and use a consistent presence.
