How much to charge for dental leads ?

My 2 cents:

Ask him.....Mr Dr, out of how many calls/leads you get a paying customer? Or If you get 10 calls, how many of those calls will typically become paying patients?

He say's, well maybe 2 leads out of 10 or 20% will become paying clients.

Ok Mr Dr, now how much is the average bill for a typical patient in one year? ....About $1000.

Ok, so for every 10 calls you get, you will usually covert 20% to paying clients which will bring you $2000 in revenue, right? ..Yes.

Ok, so if I send you 20 calls per month, based on your numbers you will be able to translate those leads to 4 new clients bringing $1000x4=$4000 of total revenue, correct? ....yes.

OK, so I will send you 20 calls per month at a cost of only $25 each for a total of only $500 per month which you will be able to bring in $4000 in revenue, does that sound like a good deal or what?.......................Sign me up.

Play with the numbers.
Charge per call, not conversions....no need to look at their accounting numbers, which will be a deal breaker for many.
Exactly, I'll use the numbers their provide and think of a price that is fair for both sides.

Charge a lot, here in the Netherlands they are the best paid proffesion. Keep in mind, once they hooked a client you brought into them, they keep coming every 6 months. So let them pay for it.

True, these leads are more valuable than what some people may think.

I know this Canadian 1-800-Dentist offer, but it's pay out is pretty low, you must to gather your own leads and sell them to your local dentist.

Here in the US 1-800 dentist charges $89 per lead. Doesn't matter what type of service, could be a lead for a $100 teeth cleaning or $3,000 implant.

Dont listen to these dudes talking out of their asses! What dentist you know is really gonna let you audit their books??

Charge a flat-rate fee, like $30-50 and be done with it. Trying to calculate a percentage of the lifetime value of the customer is asking to get the door shut
in your face.

Most dentists don't even understand that concept (LTV is marketing lingo) so it will seem very intrusive. My 2cents!

Don't even try to do this as a percentage. First, if you ask the dentist for access to his finances what is he going to say? Get the hell out of my office. Nobody is going to agree to show you their books. If they do agree, they will probably keep a separate set of books just for you (very easy to do this). Second, you open yourself up to a dispute every month - which one of your clients had which procedures for how much money...

Start out charging $30-50 per call (you setup an 800 or local number that redirects to them) then log the calls. If you're sending good quality leads, THEN you go back to the dentist after 8-12 months and ask for more money per lead. Why wait 8-12 months? Most people see the dentist every 6 months (at least in the US). So the dentist will probably want to see how many of your leads are going to stick. Once you prove yourself the sky's the limit. You go back and say dentist down the street is interested in working with you, but in order to keep things exclusive you need more per lead, etc.
