Hey guys. My background details: I have above average knowledge and experience in marketing, branding and photography. I've been an Instagram marketer for a year and I'm making a considerable income from the clients I have been taking. This is just from advertising. The difference with this new client is they want me to fully handle their Instagram account. The responsibilities would cover, but not limited to: product shoots for original content, Instagram advertising, posting and engaging with the audience.

The average hourly rate for a social media manager is $50/hour, so I'm using this as a base. If I worked at a minimum 1 hour per day for a month, that is a fee of $1500. I feel this is too low considering in this industry, if you outsource for product shots, the average rate for photographers is $30-$40. So that alone is an added minimum $900 if we were to create an original photo each day of the month. I'm also going to use my main account to advertise for the client.

I'm thinking the fee should be around $2000-$3000. Not only will I be an extension of their brand, but I'm knowledgeable in their industry as well. Well let me know what you guys think if it's justified or not? Too high or too low? Thanks guys.

I think it's justifiable. As you improve, raise your prices, but these are fine for now.

That's not very much to work just 1 hour a day. Top managers charge several thousand because they're available 24x7.

I wouldn't hire a IG manager who'd just work an hour a day...

Of course I'll be available 24/7. The 1 hour is just the bare minimum. If it's a minimum 2 hours a day at $50/hr, that's $3000 already. Just throwing some numbers.

Like I said, they're not looking for only followers. They want someone to FULLY handle their Instagram efforts.

What is the term if you get their acc ban? Your clients must really trust you to handle over their login info as well.

It really depends on what is included with the price. If by managing their account you mean running the bot 24/7, then it's absolutely over-priced.

If, however, by managing you mean being active on the account, interacting with users, posting niche-related posts, making your own content and other stuff like that, it could be worth it.

I know people who manage not one, but multiple accounts for $500-$1000 a month, being active on the account throughout the day, replying to direct messages, comments and a lot of other stuff that help the brand to make sales. Your pricing seems way too pricey, but it might work if the brand you're talking to have the money :)

Sounds like a good price (obviously overpriced to us BHW members) but I'd advise trying to find more clients. The dumber, and the wealthier they are the better. So look for decent sized companies who have absolutely terrible IG accounts. Charge them $5K monthly and someone's bound to bite the bait. It's kind of like the offline seo marketing. Find morons, charge them way too much for SEO by pointing out you can do it "cheaper than the competition" and then do as little work as possible with decent results to show "proof".

Thanks for more input guys. And yes by managing it, it's not just running FL on it. It's interacting with the community, creating my own content, etc. Basically treating it like my own business.

Like everything, how much you charge is based on your competition. The answer is in researching what everyday competitors charge, and to make sure you're not going off of "hearsay" or "pie-in-thesky" rates. Basically, go to a site like Freelancer and see what people are charging for the same service.
