Its the new year guys.
I am setting up goals for this year(2014) and one of them is to reach the $100/day Mark,
Because I know if I can achieve that I would easily reach the $5k/month mark.

My question is, how much did most of you guys start your IM journey with? And how long did it take you until you saw returns.
I am currently working part time and I want to save up some cash in order to start on my IM journey.

My main method would be, creating Adsense websites, thus I need to budget cash for Keyword research, Webhosting, domain and a 3-5 Month SEO campaign.

Cheers

Keyword research is free :).
Webhosting costs $3-6 per month for a business one.
Domain costs $1 < try honey app for google chrome and buy a domain on godaddy.
You can do SEO work on your own, for a low competition niches it is sufficient.

I started with 10grand and nearly blew it all. I got down to my last 2k and realized I was just spending and chasing my tail. Restrict yourself to a small budget and you will be more creative and ultimately figure out a way to make shit work.

I don't believe there's a strict answer to this.

Everyone's mileage varies a lot.

I know when I first started a very long time ago. I invested like 5,000 and failed. I was able to learn a lot from it though and it paid off in the long run.

Time is the most precious commodity you're going to invest. What RayRolls said, is entirely true; spending doesn't mean anything in IM. Just like most of us when we started out I blew like 12k without any results, the moment I spent it all I really needed to get the money back and that's when I started to earn.

I think this should be measured in time - not money. Sure money will help you out but it can easily be wasted if you don't allocate it properly.

You only really need a domain, and hosting. Make some websites and play around till you have a basic knowledge. Putting money in with little knowledge, will just waste the money.

I invested $12 and in 3 months I made $100 and just started to invest bit by bit. I was 15 at the time, I'm 18 and now I have a steady four figure income.

Good question

My answer is depends what you go into.

I started with senuke .. A couple of websites and selling simple services on CL

my costs all told where about $250 a month

when I started CPA and affiliate marketing .. Well that's more trial and error and work .. So if you had $2000 then you could get going without much trouble.

I will tell you my story OP. :)

I started with $0. Literally, only a PC and internet.
But slowly I started investing in hosting with the cash I was given for the month and stuff.
Then on June, I got a huge $420 sale, and decided to buy: GSA SER + GSA Indexer + GSA Captcha + SERengines + 10 proxies + a decent VPS.
To be honest, by that time (June 2013) I was expecting to be earning like $1k/m with everything I was doing. Then a blog from 2009 ranked on its own and it brings around $25-$200 a month on avg and all that money I have used it on services to try and ge my still-on-the-works $100/day goal. From my own pocket I just invested around $20 or so, then, LUCKILY, that 2009 blog ranked and has been my earner all of this time.

And to my bad luck, it seems that I can only rank stuff only with GSA SER which obviously is nothing good in the long run.

Thinking about what I did with the money and what I am earning right now ( a big fat $0 ), I think I should have withdrawn the money and bought stuff. But hope and faith that I would have reached $100/day made me invest that much... :(

Ohh well...

In short, it doesn't matter if you invest or not, there's always some shitty excuse or problem that will keep you from succeeding...

To end the rant, I worked super hard last year (yes, all 12 months) and still I am earning a big fat $0 daily!!!

Only hope, faith and the wish to succeed are keeping me alive on the IM world...

I started with nothing but your shorting yourself with $100 a day mark. Start much higher like $500 a day. $100 a day isnt jack shit. The Vets here are making at least 1k a day.

I never looked at it as $100 day or whatever, I just did my thing and made my money

any newbie should be at $100 a day within 2-3 months ,if not this isnt for you

Only thing I invested was my time, willingness to learn and blood and sweat to grind out

The 1st month I did nothing but reading and learning an/2nd month I implmented
