Optimized image is an essential on-page factor and it's important in respect to readership and engagement. However, I want a pointer to research or experience as regards Pages with optimized image and effects on Ranking and Traffic?
I've a blog with 200 pages without single image and i'm thinking of adding images to the posts to increase ranking and bring traffic or the time will not worth it? I want to create pictures myself and I would spend more time than getting images online.

It is hard to define how much pictures will help with 200+ factors now Google looks at it all depends - I found our rankings increased when we had pictures on videos added to our site. Most "experts" say at least one image and up to three per page help the page become identified for what it is trying to relay. Remember part of ranking is Google just being able to figure out what you are trying to say and who will want to read it.

I always put up optimized images. I don't know if it helps my ranking, but it occasionally helps my traffic. If you hardcore optimize your images, and rank on Google for them, you can at minimum steal the image for the rich snippet, I do it all the time when competing against .gov sites.
    What does it hurt?

Patriot brings up a good point, sometimes your well optimized image will rank on the SERPS for local if it is a lower competition keyword or competing against gov or edu sites that do not optimize their images. I have actually ranked for a few images when they have had linking - not the best scenario as they have to use your menu of your website to navigate to you but hey they got there (RL EXAMPLE - Modified header exhaust Pasadena California - the image came up top 5). It is hard now to try to rank for local cities if you have many as many feel posting more then your address on your website risks spam and is largely ignored by google as it needs to be contextual and trying to create a page for every city is over the top for many site - pictures are a great way to get some traction there.
