recently i got a job offer frm a company here in Ludhiana and they were offering me 20k working 9-5 5 days a week. i declined and told i'd be working part time, 4hrs a day,5 days a week n but they needed someone full time n even offered me upto 25k for the same.

bt yeah, to ask that kinda money, u gotto be up-to-date and must know all the latest techniques in blackhat as well as white hat seo. if u can impress them with ur knowledge in interview, u can ask for any damn amount.
I met a guy working for a company in chandigarh as SEO executive, earning 15k and he dint know what a linkwheel is :D

I contacted an uncle of mine, he owns an IT company, he suggested to ask for 40-50K a month as thats what a Sr. SEO exec gets, thats what they pay

Better than working for 18-25k INR a month, if you know what you are doing, you can earn that much money in a day or 2. Why do you want to work for someone if you know the real shit about SEO. :D

40-50k is joke for this position. you can easily make 200k you just need to do SEo for yourself and then offer your SEo service here, get clients get paid in Dollars. :)

Why would anyone that knows SEO ever work as an SEO for someone else? If you really know that much and are that good you can rank your own sites and make 10x as much as what you would be paid as a salary.

Not everyone is cut out to work for themselves. Some people are good at what they do but that doesn't mean they can easily go out and be their own boss.

Yeah I know what you're saying bro. I hope you become stable as soon as possible so you can then go do your own thing. I actually used to work as an SEO for a big search agency until I realised what bullshit it was so I left. :)

How do you intend to manage all of that along with a full time job?

Yes you are right, not everyone can run their own business nor does it suit everyone. However my point is if someone is good at SEO, they should be looking to do it for themselves as the rewards are much greater, whether that be ranking their own sites or consulting for other businesses.

IAS...lol...I earn more then the President of India :D

BTW as kumbhak said...If you are really good at it, you should really do it for your own sake man!!!

Also, how did you manage to got a selection on a Senior SEO position without having any experience in company on any low level & if you have worked in past for some experience then you should be knowing the package they offer in India to do SEO for them :)

I've been earning online as I mentioned earlier, and thats what I've told them... had a small telephonic interview and they called me for the main interview.. however they asked me how much I am expected.. I said iam not sure at the moment, then I asked them how much are they willing to pay, they said thrs no bar if the candidate is deserving.... So thats why iam a little confused..
