2 GB of RAM or above and Intel Dual Core or above CPU will be enough based on how many users online your website will have for a minute.

Depends on how many pictures you have, how many pageviews per user, how much you load (jquery, css) etc pp Constant traffic or traffic spikes... what kind of CMS (custom, wordpress, joomla) or static pages etc etc etc
If you get a CDN for images and other stuff to load from and cache your pages you don't need that much power...

One of my social driven sites about that per day, wordpress based.

Make sure you are heavily caching, and use cloudflare as a CDN. I use a VPS with 8GB of Ram and 4 vCores which runs it fine. If you are not expecting any peak (viral) traffic you could probably half the specs of this and have it running smooth.

But like others said, what is your site like? Is it heavy?

A $5 DO droplet is more than enough to serve 20k uniques a day on a Wordpress site. It'll be even better if you offload the static files to a CDN.

wrong, my website is wordpress based and i frequently get database connection error on a 10$/month plan... now I am at 20$ / month plan but once in a while i still have this error... I am looking forward with your suggestion about CDN... Can you suggest a good plan for this amount of traffic?

This is not true.I do have a heavy site..getting more traffic than that, but when i get traffic they all come at the same time.Meaning like 400+ at the same time.It needs a nice VPS not to crash the site together with CDN and caching.
In case he has a site with images, that it is one image per page...they are going to kill his site in second...with 400 visitor online it means 1000+ page views per minute.
If your site is going to crash when it is under heavy load..than he is going to loose his users and money.

You are going to need a stronger VPS! I have 8GB RAM and 5xCPU with total 10.6GHZ.IF the users are watching 1-2 page per minute it is fine.If you have website with pictures, than even with this config..they are killing the website.
Paying 80$ per month..which is fine for now.Forget shared hosting or weak VPS.

I guess you're not using Varnish or Memcached on your server. Also switch to Nginx if you're still using Apache. The performance difference is day and night.

I've several sites hosted on $5 droplet and they're all handling 2k+ concurrent connections on a WP site like a breeze. It's all in how you setup your server and fine tune them to get the best out of it.

If you want free CDN with no control to your files or whatsoever, you shall try Cloudflare. I'm using Cloudfront and KeyCDN for all my sites.
