I can only speak for iOS development costs but I'd imagine you're still looking at $5,000.00 minimum for something real. Your illustrations shouldn't really exceed $1,000.00 and depending on the complexity of your app it could easily reach $10,000.00-$20,000.00

This question really isn't answerable without more detail. What you need to do is post on Elance (or similar) and take bids for your job, then you'll gain a better understanding of what the cost really looks like.

As for marketing, can't answer that either. It really depends on how much you want to spend.

you can explore other options more simpler and cheaper i think
hire a freelance to re-skin a app for you
buy the app rights= $100 on http://www.chupamobile.com/ maybe?
    hire a freelancer to re-skin it (change style and layout) = $200 - $300 ?
bum your got yourself an app
    put it on the market
    see how it goes

Agreed, This is a good option when you want to create something with a common gameplay or something that has already been made like a memory game.

You are stating out then you should either reskin the app or just buy the rights to an already published app.

Get a app template and have someone reskin for you, there's a lot of memory game template you can buy for just under $50

Depends, the guy who made flappy bird did it in a few hours, but the likely hood of the success of your app = slim

So funny when I see people on BHW driven to make great products on dirt cheap budgets. I'm not knocking anyone's ideas - great ideas come from low income all the time, but we need to appreciate the amount of effort & cash going into videogames. Top developers don't jack from others, others jack from them - how do you plan on being the game others imitate?
