    Hi all,

I am thinking of competing against a very popular review website for binoculars. I have much more experience in this field than the website owner does, both practical and theoretical. Binoculars have been my life for 25 years now.

What I want to know is how much does a website like this generate and what are my chances of competing?

The website in question is called bestbinocularsreviews.

    Thanks for your time :)

It depends on so many different things.

How do you plan on generating traffic?

How do you plan on monetizing it?

What's the competition like in your niche?

    That's just for starters.

Hard to say, but the site is ranking on the first page for a number of keywords. He is monetizing via adsense, amazon, and CJ.

    Home Page:
Get some keywords together and put them into google keyword tool, check "exact" and uncheck "broad" then do a search and see how much searches there are for each keyword --then you know roughly how much of a potential audience you have.

If you login to/create an adwords account, on the same page you will get CPC for those keywords and thus you will have a rough idea of whether there are advertisers competing for the keywords and thus if there's money in it.

If those two come back ok, I say go for it and forget about that other site - if you really have that background then it's the best niche for you to be in because you have knowledge and enthusiasm, what does that other guy have? A head start but nothing else!!! :)

The report came from the free version of semrush dot com. Sorry, still a noob, so no linkage.
