I have 5 clients at all differernt price points. Want to know is on average how much are you spending out to help rank your clients. I do all the SEO in house and only outsoruce for gigs here and there to help but not for the whole project. Just want to know how much of the amount do you keep vs spending out each month.</p>

I have around 30 Clients (locally and virtually) I do all under one roof. Starting from Website designing / development to SEO to make sure not even a single penny goes out of my hand.

I've previously worked directly with clients, and outsourced it. I was never spending more than 30% of revenue on the outsourcing, and maybe an additional 20% on my own costs, leaving a 50% margin, which I considered to be healthy.

It really does depend though on where you have set the expectations with the client. If you're looking for slow and steady gains in visibility and traffic then it could be a lower percentage than if you've promised the customer a big jump in month 2 of their contract.

I never promise a highe spike but as normal I do advise about 2-3 months to see results (page 1 to 2) and again keep 95% of the payment....thinking though maybe I should allocate $50 (outside of article writing) for other seo task that im generally to cheap to purchase....keep the views coming.
