If you're working with a SEO firm and you claim that you're very much familiar with all the backlinks then you should know its value and how much would it cost.

This thread for me is something like a sales script. Why would you need to highlight your skills when asking for the value of the linkbuilding strategy?

Four Seasons, I think you raise some great points, but what I gather from this post is that they used to work for an SEO company and did the actual work, so he might know the backend processes, but is unfamiliar with the more difficult sales aspect, pricing, policies and getting clients.

Posterman, you can take the quick route to determine service prices and research this on google. You might want to look into keywords like, backlink campaigns, article marketing services, or SEO services, as these searches will give you a wide variety of products, prices and services offered.

While looking into pricing, you should determine the standard products and services that would be offered and match them as close to what is being offered at these companies. You might have a unique product or service, but often times it is better, initially, to lead with what customers are used to.

In terms of how to market your products and services, you should step back a few and look at defining who your target market is... Are they online, offline or hybrid? Are you looking to marketing to individuals, businesses or both? You looking to be a support to a new business that knows nothing about SEO or a company that is looking for a lower cost option for outsourcing?

There are probably 100s of questions you should answer before you launch, but don't forget that analysis only goes so far, but getting out there and selling your products and services will be the best teacher.

I hope this helps and if you need any further assistance, let me know and I will see if I can assist.

You have good quality, I think firstly contact with employee form freelance site then checking project , Now first time you offer your services low rate according to employee, after 2-3 project you can increasing your value.

Posterman, The best teacher is experience, unless you are willing to pay for the knowledge. I don't say this to be a jerk, but if you don't learn it through your own research, you will never know your business enough to be confident when selling it. Here is what I can tell you:

    1. Decide why you are starting this business - Security? - Provide Family? - Friends? - New Home? - Write down why you are starting
    2. Decide what is the income that you want to feel success at... give yourself 3 incomes goals, ie steps to reach - $100 - $250 - $1000 a month.
    3. Decide what product or service you will provide to earn the above and also determine when you want to meet the above goals - BE specific
    4. Outline in detail the products and services you will provide - What is it, What does it look like, and How much will it cost
    5. Define your target market - if you dont know how to do this, research online - "How to define a target market"
    6. Develop your operational processes to implement the products / services
    7. Develop how you will sell you product / service - Online, offline, face to face, over the phone, etc.
    8. Outline all documents that will be needed for the selling of your services - Terms of service, proposals, etc.
    9. Decide, how will you handle growth - Will you do all the work yourself?
    10. Great a top 20 questions that clients will ask you and have responses ready - ie. how long have you been in business? Why should we use your service? Do you offer discounts for long term contracts? etc etc

The above should take you 2 - 4 weeks to finish if you are devoting at least 15 hours to complete it. Obviously more or less time depnding on how much time you devote to it.

Please keep me posted, it would be a great thing to see you take action and move ahead with your business.
