I read somewhere that less than 3 percent of all YT channels ever get over 100 subs

Well regular users, who only log in on YouTube just to watch videos, their account is registered as a "channel" technically there's no difference between a regular account made by someone or that of PewDiePie or Tseries. Ofcourse not everybody is into YouTube as a creator and the data of 100 subs is kind of misleading.

should i keep on adding shorts vids or focus on 8 mins vids only.... shorts vid is good to get subs but it decrease my CTR rate (shorts gets < 4-5% CTR) ...should i just focus on long vids only??? my normal ctr is 10%+

I'd say focus on long form content as shorts aren't monetizable at the moment.

If you can san sustain both, i would do both. One vs the other tho? Long form content is still king.

Shorts actually are monetizable depending on the type of content.

Peep update on a channel on track to sustain $5k/ month!
