So I converted my USDT to BTC and it took 9USD out of 23USD so its left 14USD and now I can't transfer it because the minimum transfer is about 40USD because fees take 20USD to send. Is this normal? Using localcoinswap

I believe it varies quite a lot depending on network congestion or the amount of transactions competing for block space.
I made a transfer the other day of BTC and the fee was hardly anything - less than $1 on a $1k transaction.
But a few months ago I sent $20 and the fee was almost $20 on top of that.
Best always to check the fee before you commit to the transfer and if it’s high, you normally have an option to convert to another coin such as LTC for example, then transfer that (at a much smaller fee), then convert back at the other end.
Or look into lightning network which is much lower cost.

Why are people still sending funds with btc and eth. The fees are always through the roof. For gambling they are good. Not for sending crypto.
My favorites are Litecoin and XRP as their fess are ridiculously lower you can't compare with bt shit.

The fees differs from one exchange to another so you should use the exchange with least fees.
You paid too much in fees. If you would have used a better exchange like Binance, this problem would not have occured.

I don't remember the fees being this high, it used to be a few dollars only. But again that was like 2019 LOL

On which platform , you are seeing 20usd fees? That is a lot. There are many other cheaper exchanges with less fees.

BTC transfer fees differ from one exchange to another. On binance, you will get best rates for transfer.
