I currently have 3 money sites that are all in the same general niche, they're all based around a specific TV series and each website is more or less a community where you can watch the TV show online all in one place and theres a comment system, a chat, etc.

With that being said, each show is in the same niche, but they're all 3 different shows, let's just say Family guy, the simpsons, and American dad (for example)

When building a PBN, do I need to create one PBN website PER money site? or can I link to each of my money sites through my pbn site?

Say I made one PBN website that does for example... TV Show ratings.. can I make 3 separate posts to each of my money sites and give them all articles and a backlink? Or one money site per pbn site?

You can link them to all 3 moneysites if YOU choose to do so, but if the PBN gets hit you lose all 3 moneysites.

How many PBN sites do you have ?

If you have the money then its better to build a PBN for each site but using 1 PBN on all 3 is fine.

Ideally you'll want one link per domain. Each subsequent link will reduce the overall power of each link. For example, if you have one link you'll be getting 100% value from it. If you have two links they will be worth 50% each. So and and so forth. Also, the more links you have the easier it is for google or your competition to find and dismantle your PBN.

There's an older video by Matt Cutts where he explains how more links causes decaying values. I can't find it at the moment but it's out there. I know many people see Matt Cutts as a figurehead spouting nonsense but what hes saying makes sense.

So, to answer your question. There's nothing inherently wrong with linking your PBN to multiple sites. However, you are increasing risk and lowering value. No one can tell you if that's okay or worth it.

Then what about those people who sell links and have like hundreds and hundreds of links on one blog? doesn't that make the links people purchase essentially useless?

Personally I have 2 links from each pbn to my money site along with outbound links from the to relevant areas like wikipedias or huge authority sites in the niche i dont compete with so it looks more natural. I have been known on ocassion to point more links to 2 different money sites, but i make sure those money sites are on different hosts so they dont leave a footprint.

    always use protection

Most people who sell links won't have hundreds and hundreds on one blog. At least if they are "high quality". So while not completely useless they wouldn't give near the power of having just one link. I highly suggest avoiding purchasing PBN links.

EDIT: Which is why if you look at most PBN sellers they will mention low OBL(outbound links) as one of their features. It's also why things that worked in the past such as directories have virtually 0 value today.

What you're trying to avoid is your PBN getting detected, which could affect your money sites if it does.

So don't build a crappy PBN on crappy domains. Build them out as real decent sites. Sites that will rank for some low LMS KW's and even get a trickle of traffic to them. You'll get more love from Google if you put love into your PBN's.

My rule of thumb is 1 money site = 1 PBN.

That however is a subjective approach. I like to keep things as safe and as long term as possible.

If you have multiple money sites in the same niche, then in that case you can link to all of them. However, you must know what you are doing. You need to perfectly hide those links with plenty of other outbound links to other sites that you are not ranking. And for that you need stronger and bigger domains. If you link from all your PBN sites to all your 3 money sites and try to "hide it" with a 3-5 random outbound links, then that's a catastrophe waiting to happen.

I will use the sentence that is being used here quite often: "It all comes down to ROI."

One PBN per moneysite is the best practice just to limit the risk.
