Do you find it hard to find good VAs? What do you usually pay them?

Respect to VAs as most work hard for little pay, at times, for less than a dollar an hour, but based on experience, unless hiring one for mundane-simplistic work, such as data entry or copy-past tasks, they are not ideal as they are paid too little to care or not enough to spend the time needed to do quality work, if you choose to hire one, do not expect client-quality work, and by that I mean do not get an order for content/SEO and hand it off to a VA expecting it to be done to the standards of your clientele, for nearly anything else that is hard to mess up, they are good options, especially when the task is simple but your time is worth more to have another see it through.

I get them to pay me for the experience

What's your recommendation to get higher quality work? I know we can't expect much out of the <$1/hr VAs, but if you're willing to shell out a bit more, where do you even look? Fiverr?

Depends on what kind of work you are looking for?! If it is content pay for a native English speaker.

My opinion on Fiverr is justifiably biased due to my experiences with sellers there, between the considerable number of users with paid-for (fake) reviews and those regularly trying to swindle buyers out of add-on fees for services that are advertised to be gig-cost inclusions, it is not only difficult to trust seller ratings, as well as the rating system as a whole (which has no inherent verification system in place to verify or authenticate reviews), it is hard, most of the time, to find a reliable seller that fulfills service to advertised standards at the rate you expect to pay.

Misunderstand me not, Fiverr is a useful medium to many and my experiences should in no way reflect the user base of sellers there as a whole, you may hire a VA there to find yourself luckier than I have been and may have the best hiring experience you have had yet, but in the interest of your investment and protection, I have a better, more secure approach that I myself would pursue if I were in your shoes, and I say this to help prevent you from being burned or disappointed, which Fiverr sellers have the tendency to cause.

You are a member here and with that comes the benefit of accessing our marketplace, in which, you receive protections not had on Fiverr in the form of being able to ShitList members that do not fulfill your order or to the marketplace-approved standards.

Leverage your membership to your benefit, screw Fiverr, we have a great number of VAs here and in fact have used one here in the past without issues that I can recommend to you through PM if you request it.

All this said, and considering the protections you have here, and accounting for the number of quality vendors we have, just post a Hire a Freelancer thread and you will surely, within a couple of hours, have at least three to five VAs apply for your request, which will not only prevent you from having to dissect gig listings and reviews (as well as save you time) but will let you hire with peace of mind knowing that no level-headed VA here is going to jeopardize their ability to sell by under-delivering on expectations, and this marketplace model is one quality of our marketplace I truly appreciate.

Phew, that was a long response to a simple question but too much info is better than too little, someone can add a TLDR below if they so wish, good luck man, if you have any more questions or want feedback, just hit me up and I would be happy to help, peace. :D
