I have been thinking on a suitable niche for my site, and found a keyword with 300k monthly searches which is an exact match with a domain which has not been taken yet. Would this domain be any good, or should I search for something more powerful? Its a low competition niche by the way. And sorry, I have intended my text to be more specific, but the site wouldnt let me post it, and I couldnt figure out what was wrong so this is it for now :)

completely depends. If you are selling a product think about conversion rate which is typically 1-7%. Can you actually rank this keyword?

How typical is it to get 300k customers or even 150k customers into a store.

I would say that is a lot of traffic then. wouldnt you?

Completely depends on the keyword and what you are doing to monetize it but typically that is a ton of traffic.

WHat is hour source for the traffic though?

Well, I'm planning to bring in traffic through search engines mainly, but I'm also planning to use social media, like twitter, facebook, and youtube. I also want to make a mailing list in the future. I will monetize my site through FileIce mainly, by providing free but very useful things to download from there.

    Home Page:
Depends on how much is enough for you considering you get almost half this traffic being #1 and the other half goes to ppc spots and those few ranking down you.

Are you looking at the broad or exact searches?

Oh now I see... So only the exact one is what really counts? If I look at it this way, my keywords are trash. Like 36 ~ 5k exact searches / month. Thats not much, guess I will look for something else then.

Exact shows the number of searches for the specific keyword. Even if you are ranked first you will not get the entire number it gives you. It can be 30-50% of the actual number. So if it's 5k exact searches a month, you can expect around 2.5k unique visitors a month if you are ranked first. Second is less and third even less.

Take a look at this thread. It should help you out.

Haha every time I see a similar thread, a noob found keyword with 300k monthly searches + EMD, I just know he/she looks at Broad searches
