Hey my new niche blog is just barely a week old and I was wondering how many backlinks I would need to get a PR1? I'm going to try and start linking from hubpages but I don't know many other websites.

Would you guys suggest buying some backlinks?

One hundred and twenty one links.

But really.. PR hasn't been updated for a long time and could be quite a bit longer. PR is becoming increasingly useless so I don't know why anyone is trying to raise an arbitrary number.

You don't need PR to rank. Just build quality links and you will eventually get to the top.

I don't think the number links will decide. It should be high quality links and your fresh content.

One PR 2 link will make you PR 1.

One PR 10 link will make you PR 7.

What are we talking about here again?

Sort of new with this whole SEO thing, just trying to rank quickly. I have time but I want to get some start up traffic and generate a large mailing list but it all starts with SEO

Page rank is purely based on the quality not in the quantity of back-links.

Built high PR domain authority relevant websites for better Page rank results. o_oo_o is right! No one knows when Google updated its PR algo.

Note: You cannot rank a website with PR N/A/0/1 into TOP 10 for the keyword search: "How to make money"
All the websites in the Top for that keyword search contains the Page Rank value 5+. We can't totally say that PR is useless.

Think about quality not quantity. It is difficult to say how many links do you need to get PR1. I suggest you to create few links on high PR sites and wait.

Google doesn't publicly update PR anymore, so don't waste your time trying to get a PR 1. But as stated, there is no magic number.

    Hey BrandonM,

May I ask what the objective of you blog is?

Are you trying to build a list? Sell an info product? AdSense? Depending on each, there is macro strategies (content, videos, affiliates) that you can use.

For the SEO itself, quality, non spammy backlinks, relevant to your niche will work.

I would suggest building a quality Private Blog Network (PBN) . The sites you buy for your PBN should be relevant to your niche, and have backlinks from sites related to your niche. This allows you to have control over the links.

Also, do you have specific keywords in mind? Each keyword will take a different amount of time to rank for. "Cure acne" will be harder then "how to pop the white zit on my left cheek without scarring"

I would take it from the top tho, what is your ultimate outcome?

    Cheers

There is no amount of link required. If you have high quality content then Google will crawl your site. PR in google are mostly outdated.

Please don't consider PR, this metric is used only to sell backlinks to newbies.

The PR is not quality metric to consider and you need to look at DA/PA and to the quality of the backlinks.

1 Pr3 link should do the trick as long as it's the only link from the page. Google doesn't update the toolbar much but they still use the PR formula so it still matters. It's just harder to buy real links nowadays and be sure you are getting what you are paying for - for both you and the seller.

    Hello,

PR distribution is totally a complex matrics.
To get your website pagerank 1 you need upto 10 links from PR1 sites(Homepage) which have also max 10 outgoing links.

The power of pagerank distribute with the outgoing links on that page. So try to consider low OBL pages to get a link from.

When the PR increases for 1 the power of the domain increase by 10X from the last PR. This way the PR matrics work. Also there are Domain authority and Page rank authority which depends upon the number of quality links pointing to your site.

As Google is not doing any PR updates currently. You should concentrate on Domain and Page authority by acquiring high quality links.

    Thanks

there is no exact number because google won't let anyone know EXACTLY how their ranking systems work.
