How many $$$ is my legit 2,500 email list in the weight loss niche worth?

    Hey guys,

I have this email list that I gathered offering a freebie ebook that I want to sell since I don't have the time to mantain it and it's adding to the costs in my Aweber account.

    Other details:

    - the list is actually of 2,497 subs (lol, that '97' at the end makes a perfect amount for a sales page :D ) to which I can add other 296 unsubscribed email contacts

    - after mailing the freebie, I emailed to this list 8 time BUT always promoting the same product (The Diet Solution Program from Clickbank); basically I just sent them the original newsletter of the author of the product, adding my affiliate link (this to say that I also provided value and not spammed my subs); there's for sure a lot of room for selling more products

So, how much do you think this list is worth?
I was actually thinking to put this on sale around here but I don't know if it's allowed to sell lists around here (again, mine is totally legit and built through single optins in Aweber).

If you can suggest a good place where I can sell it, please do tell me, thanks!

Forgot to add, the vast majority of the subscribers are from USA.

I am not experienced in this field. But, if you are looking to sell this, you need to show how receptive these people are to weight loss products. How many sales have you made with them. You basically have to show the potential in this list.

2500 is not a huge list either. How much did it cost you to make that list?

I'm guessing it's not worth much as you want to get rid of it - If it was worth something why not just email them a bunch of weight loss stuff? 2,500 isn't that many people to mail to so it's not like it would be that much effort for you..

If you keep your list right and email them proper stuff you can easily convert a 2% of the subscribers into sales.

Now if you sell a product and you earn $50 for the product 2% of 2500 = 50
    5x50 = $2500

So as everybody says, 1 email = $1/month. Of course you must have a good relationship with your list...

As much as you convince someone to pay for it! Demonstrate its value somehow and you can judge what people are willing to pay then. An email list on its own doesn't have much value in my eyes, without some accompanying evidence that it will convert.

    It is a typo he meant 50 people x 50 bucks = 2500

    Hey!

With that series of follows up I made well more than 260 $ (I said "well more" because I didn't start to track properly the conversions right of the bat having more sources of traffic to the landing page, and now Clickbank doesn't allow me to see statistics older than 3 months - so basically I can prove "only" 260$).

About the cost, without giving out my method, let's just say it was one of my VAs that gathered the leads posting comments in laser-targeted places, so I can't say how much that costed me since she had other tasks while doing that.

I think it could be interesting to know that the subscribers had to manually write the URL in the browser bar to get to the landing page, this means they were really motivated and interested in the subject.

Hmm, that doesn't really work that way. At least, I think it would be more profitable in the long run to gain trust with the subscribers creating a relationship than just spamming them to death until they subscribe. Problem is, I already have another list I want to create valuable stuff about (in the MMO niche), and for the weight loss niche I don't have the knowledge nor the interest in creating good original content.

About the number of emails to send that's not really a problem, as I said I'm using Aweber and once you create the email it sends them out automatically.

See the above post. I can send a screenshot of my CB account.

Dude, my list is not scraped from some crappy untargeted websites. They are targeted legit leads, and while I know I can't expect to sell a 2,500 list for a huge sum of money, for sure I wouldn't sell it for under 100$.
Even Spamming the list to death would be more intelligent than doing that.

Yep, you are right. Thing is, it would be nice to have a 'standard' value for legit leads in the weight loss niche, just to have a general idea.

I think it was more like 1 sub = $1/month, but as you said you need a very strong relationship, and I don't think I can do that since as I said I don't have interest in the weight loss niche. I created a female alias and I used the author original newsletter to create value, but really in this regard I think I can do better with the other list in the MMO niche I have, since I make a living of Internet Marketing and I can talk of my real experiences.

    These stats look pretty good.
You should send them a few more emails and this list may be worth 4 digits

If you have targeted people 1$ per person would be a good price.

Hmmm, guys could you elaborate more on the concept "send more emails to increase list value"?

I was actually under the impression that the less you bother your subs the better, unless you ain't sending them great content, and as I said apart copying from other sources that's not much I can do about that. If I had my very own product to promote that would be a different story.

Lists are finicky. Mail them too little, and they lose interest in you. Mail them too much, and they get worn out.

My list is now mostly old, so I don't see the return I used to, but even now, I'm seeing about $1K a week or more from my 38K list.

I do recommend building the list through ad swaps. If they are freebie seekers, find freebie ad swaps. If they are buyers, find paid ad swaps.

For either one, you do need a site, either an opt-in page or a sales page with an opt-in form. However, building one isn't too hard, and there are people here that can help you build one.

Any estimation on my list value, OTrap?

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't checked the OT forum in a while
