Which makes you feel better? Seven hours is supposed to be our sweet spot. I personally feel everyone is wired different, and I find myself hard pressed to sleep that much. Five hours is my special number for no other reason that I can't go too long running off less than that and there is too much to do to stay in bed all day.

As far as the poly phasic, I've not tried it...but I definitely know what it's like to continuously go without REM, and your body will eventually force you to sleep. Your mental health starts to be jeopardized when your brain doesn't get it's rest...and some ugly side effects can occur as a result.

When you fully transition into the polyphasic sleeping cycle, you get your required amount of REM.

Maximum is 10 hours. But that doesn't happen very often, normally around 5 hours.

I practicing the Biphasic pattern - 6 hours during night and 20min afternoon

LOL.. you people seem to sleep quite a lot.. I am an insomniac, so I am rarely able to sleep. I generally sleep during days hours because I am not able to sleep during night. IM has taken taken it's toll :D ... but I am loving it. :)

I sleep about 6-7 hours depending on the day of the week.

Everyone is different, but in my experience the most important thing is consistency. I don't have problems sleeping 5 hours a day or rather a night if I do it like that for every day for a few weeks.

On the other hand if I drown myself in caffeine one night and slip off then I usually sleep for 10 hours before I can get myself out of bed.

My personal goal is to wake up at 5-6AM, go for a walk or run and get onto work before anyone else (if I don't get started with work before the other guys arrive I usually waste my day socializing instead of getting stuff done.

If you like sleeping during the day I would highly recommend that you only do it in a dark environment. If you sleep in lighted rooms you can screw up your body's natural sleeping "programming" and this might lead to a lack of rest no matter how much you sleep.

If you have any questions please feel free, I have researched and tried a lot of techniques about sleep and rest.

Hmm I usually sleep between 6 and 7 hours and it's certainly not enough for me...So try to sleep more on weekends and when have more time

4.5 - 5 hours and 10 on the weekend :). But I'm getting older and older and need more!

I sleep 5-7 hours during weekdays and 10-12 hours during weekends.

I sleep for 3-4 hours :)

my concept is if someone gets 60 years old and in that he sleeps 50%, 30 years are wasted in sleep :) so don't waste time and spend the most time to learn, read, find and explore the world... I have been doing this since 10-12 years now..

Depends if I am working on a project or not. Sometimes until I am done working I sleep 4 hours per day for a week or two, then get back to 6 (sometimes 7 but not very often). It all depends on recent events.

I read this case study some university did on sleep.

They put people in a room. Deprived them of the ability to tell time. (No Sun. No Watches. No Phone. Etc.) Gave them everything they needed for stay busy, fed, etc. Live a normal week in this environment.

On average they were awake for 20 hours. Slept for 5. Then awake another 20 hours.

It's said that 8 hours is optimum time for sleep. I'm beginning to disagree. And also, I sleep about 5hrs a day.

there must be some sexy girls with them :D
