Say I got like.. 40 domains and I want to 301 them all to one domain. Is that gonna be noticed and send me to the sandbox immediately?

I am hoping someone already did this....

    Also..

I have an idea for a plugin someone needs to invent for conditional 301 If an IP has visited before.. no 301. If its a new ip...301.

Good approach in general, but redirecting them directly is certainly not the smartest choice.

In my experience with the domains I have, redirecting more than 3 tends to cause issues. I don't rank as high using to many. Using 2 or 3 decent domains doesn't really cause any problems and I have a site ranking now that's been ranking for over 2 months.

Of course this all depends on the domains your redirecting etc and the quality of the links pointing to each of them.

If you do this in a short period of time, i don't think you are going to see any benefits. Far as penalty goes, you may not get a penalty but whats the point of it anyway if you can't see any ranking increase.

Why not build a PBN of those sites ?

Well.. what if you 301'd one or 2 to your money site, then the rest to the tier 1. That shouldn't throw up as many red flags.

Like ardley said. Build PR with quality tier one to 35 or so of the sites 301 the others and the best part about our jobs is its a never ending science experience. so you can always add more 301s and take away until you hit the desired results. I wouldnt start with 40 direct with a brand new site. I would do a 2-4 max and build up the network pointing to it and then let the campaign of guess and check begin.

For questions like this always try to think from Google's point of view. What are the odds of a site going through more than a few domain name changes? Super small. I can't imagine more than 2-4 looking natural, and even 4 is pushing it.

If you are doing churn and burn and the target domain already has some link history then go ahead. otherwise not a good idea.

Wouldn't Google issue a duplicate content penalty for this? Just a thought.

I would say, do not redirect more than 4-5 domains to a single domain. ...
