Hey guys,

I just wanted to confirm, is there a chance of being sand boxed by the big G if I get too many backlinks in a certain period of time (lets say 150k in one month)?

I'm asking because of of the Xrumer software that can get a ton of backlinks, super quick!

To my analysis, it works. Because my competitors use it and they get top rankings for very competitive keywords.

I'm wondering what you guys think, and if you have experience on the matter, by all means post!

i dont think there is a FIX rule that says cannot have so many links...150K of links within a month..i guess will alert G00gle engine..

depends how old the site is, if its a 10 year old site already established then you may find it wont get sandboxed as a legitimate viral marketing tactic may gather thousands of links in a short space of time

If its a new site then yes that site is going to be in the sandbox faster than you can say it!

I have heard people say that Xrumer can lead to your site getting banned in Google ... im not sure how true that is because if it was true id buy Xrumer just to spam my competitors and get them banned!!

Suppose you bought a domain three days ago and now it has a more then a couple thousand backlinks would get it sandbox immediately. So make sure you age your domains correctly before you go out to play....

@pac1984: Dude there's a lot of confusion about Xrumer. Here analyze the backlinks of this domain " Demya dot com"

the owner of this domain is a friend of the developer of Xrumer and his domain has 61 backlinks even tough he has a Xrumer license???

i believe Xrumer backlinks die in time.

nah that site has over 30k backlinks

If your checking with the link:command with google then thats pretty worthless! The only way google will show you real backlinks is through your webmaster account..thankfully Yahoo shows them the links BUT does include nofollow links.

I have checked that sites links before .. it shows Xrumer does work but then again i bet a majority of them links are nofollow

The basic conservative rule is to develop links at a steady pace in a natural manner. Beyond that, no one knows the exact formula that Google uses.

I would pull back. Here is the problem. Who do you have these backlinks with? Are they relevant to your site? Will having that backlink actually improve the quality of your score?

3,000 backlinks from dead sites with no real merrit is not worth it IMO. Google will let you out of jail if you can remove all those links. I know it takes longer but the good old fashioned "find a related site and e-mail the webmaster" is the BEST way to get real dominance in the search engines.

then again I used PRStorm way back when to jump a domain up to around 13,000 backlinks. I've since then pretty much closed down the site and left it parked for a while. I was being crawled relentlessly with useless traffic from countries that can't convert and from people doing god knows what to the server :)

Again, I personally would not risk it. I just got a top 10 ranking for some pretty hot keywords on a site with only 13 backlinks. Didn't happen over night but now that it's there I'm converting like crazy. People are actually crawling the site searching for my adverts. Way better than referrer spamming. And if I ever get into toruble with it, I know exactly where to go to remove those links.

Use SEO elite for looking up backlinks. It's way more accurate and provides the information you need to see what's in your backlinks (PR, anchor text, etc).

Xrumer works because he's on top of search engines for the keywords that are in his anchor text.

Last thing... My domain is about a year and a half old... Too young? I don't get the difference between a 3 year or 5 year domain. I think that yea if you got a new domain and registered it for only one year and you got 100k in backlinks on one day, that the big G will get a little suspicous. Buy mine's been register for a while and its on a 5-year registration term, which helps out SEO...

Wonder if the mods know anything about this subject?

Hi, I'm sorry but I'm still new here, so I might say stupid things around here..still learning..;-P I read somewhere about getting quality backlinks. So basically it's not about how many backlinks you get. I also read that 'quality' means unique backlinks which should come from various IPs.

Maybe what I've said here is more to WH techniques not BH one...:D

Cheers!

A quality backlink is one that has the keyword you want for the anchor text, and is also on a page which is relevant to the backlink (E.g. having a backlink that says Weight Loss Success Stories on a weight loss site or post, not on a linkfarm or unrelated blog post).

So the best scenario is to have a backlink that says Weight Loss Success Stories on a post or website about Weight Loss Success Stories, I believe that is the quality your referring to?

nobody knows how many backlinks are too many.
the question should be what is the maximum backlinks per day that everybody here tried withoud getting banned.
and i mean instant backlinks(forums,guestbooks...)

ive never had a site banned in google for back linking

Only had sites banned for cloaking!
