More than the number of articles you provide it may also depend on the quality which you give in the least number of articles you use.

Promoting your site/blog may also will give you more choices of making it big...!

    Myfault,

I think in general the more content you add (over a period of time) the better. If you were looking for the bare minimum, I would say by 10 of them and spread them over a 2 month period (posting one every so often). There isn't really a formula here and morgan's point about the quality of the articles is also true. Make sure they are well written otherwise no one will find them useful. I'm not sure what the goal of your website is but the content can help you accomplish that.

    Best,

    Shawn

quality > quantity .. but it also depends on your site age/authority compared to other sites your competing against.

I doubt 1 article does much - you probably need 5 pieces of content and see how your initial rankings come up.

When you build links be very careful of anchor text % you use - seems Google really has decided this is one way to catch out spammers.

If you can't figure out the contents you need then I don't see the possibility of ranking your site either.

I would say go with at-least 10 articles over a period of time.

10 different review articles about one piece of SEO software isn't going to help you rank higher. You just need one.

Take the keyword 'SEnuke guide' (feel free to Google it) - While I have 3/10 properties on there (auto webspam script I wrote, 100% automated), it could have just as easily been 1 if I had only published one article on the blog. If you write 10 articles and place them on 10 different pages it isn't going to help your SEO unless you also try to rank those additional pages as well. If you don't plan on building links to your inner pages, you don't need that many articles.

You only need as much content as is required to rank. It's not like if you publish more content on the same subject Google will arbitrarily be like "fuck it lets just rank him".

So say the people that can't produce both.
