I am currently working only on my Macbook pro. I was thinking to get monitors but I have no idea whether which size and how many would be suitable and what features I should look out for.

My plan is to connect my macbook to those monitors

One is enough, isn't it?

I am currently using a 24' LCD monitor and switching between 2 VMware windows is not a problem for me.
Anyway, if I really wanted to buy an additional monitor, I would go with another 24' one.

it depends on what/how you use it. usually 2 monitors is enough. and I would say 21' is good enough. but if for graphics design, bigger one is better.

I've also found 2 to be the most convenient, and I use 24" ones - smaller ones are too small and larger ones take up too much desk space and the cost is often unjustified.

Tough to say without knowing your needs and purpose for multiple monitors. Personally, I use multiple laptops (I'm frequently on the move) and a piece of software called Synergy which allows me to control each machine with a single keyboard/mouse. I'll also run a Linux distro on my work machines as the ability to use Workspaces with simple keybinds to switch between them on each machine helps me organize various windows based on their purpose (RDP/SSH Sessions, E-mail, Chat clients, Websites, Editing software, etc).

I'm currently using 2 of 24", it is easier to use two if you are going to use any kind of virtual computers.
I'm using Oracle VMBOX it's free and it does the job.

I've got one 22" and one 19", but if I could choose myself I would go for 2 x 24". My friend has that, and it looks and works great :)

i find multiple monitors distracting unless i'm watching a tutorial and need the tutorial on one screen and do what it says on the other.

Sorry, maybe it is me being an idiot, but what is the need for several screens ? .. Just have 1 really good pc, and open the programs you need.
Only if your investing in forex currency trading or something i can see the need for several monitors..
if anyone would care to explain that would be great ;-)

You NEED to buy 23-74 depending on your room size. If you are planning on eating a lot of bacongz just get 54, but seriously thats up to you and your keyboard size. Also analyze other facts such as the inner atmosphere of the room, if its a bit cluttered you might consider getting only 35. Make sure they are 100"++++++++++, pointless to get less.

TRUST ME, THIS WILL DEFIANTLY INCREASE YOUR MONEY MAKING MeTHODS!

I have two 24" monitors with a 22" monitor in the middle.

The difference is simply amazing between 1 and 3 screens and I can get a great deal more done.

Id suggest you start with two and work up from there.

The amount of people thinking that the amount of monitors is related to the amount of earnings is too damn high xD
too high.jpg

I am using two external 27 inch, widescreen monitors connected to my macbook pro so I have three monitors working for me. I find this very useful as I can work on multiple applications, websites at the same time instead of having to ctrl+tab all the time.
