What do you think for a highly competetive keyword including Amazon and staples on page one. Also the company is trying to make your rankings stable so they're not throwing hundreds of links at you or something that will get you penalized.

What do you think is a fair time frame?

    Thanks

A lot of factors that you didn't tell would be needed to have a trough estimation. It really varies, either you have one or more strong competitors, their age, their backlinks, their authority. Same goes with your site, is it brand new? is it an aged domain ? How is the niche ?

Could be 1month to 8 month as far as I know.

For my site is aged domain. Got out of a penguin penalty a year ago so not sure if that makes it more like a newer domain or not. Have some decent backlinks from the past year even a few from manafucturers so those are even white hat type links. The competitors have similar authority to my site although a few rank naturally for the keywords with their high authority like Amazon and staples.

The keywords were going after have a little less than a thousand searches a month but are money keywords based around products so it is competitive. The niche is pretty specific as well. It's something people search when looking to buy. 3-6 months was also the time frame I was given. In month 3 now and on page 2 for some keywords.
