Recently, my website has moved from 5th to 40th

And the next day, the website rankings move from 40th to 6th

And my website is in 7th place today

It happened in just a week

If you think this is Google dance, how long is your average Google dance period?
And another interesting thing is that i found that search rankings vary by device on desktops and mobiles:(

When the music stops. Your site would stop dancing.

But on a serious note, there's absolutely no time limit. In fact nobody knows, some people don't believe it exists. But I do think if your site is as strong or stronger than those on page 1, it doesn't take long after indexation for your site to take a position on page 1. I mostly experience this fluctuations on not-so-strong websites.

Thank you so much for your answers above!

To add to that, it's been about a week since the above thing started to happen :(

It occurs after adding two backlinks to the website

No time limit. From my experience whenever Google reindexes your website, it changes the position.

It could be anywhere from a couple of days up to a couple of months,
As long as you got the right links, used the right anchors and got a decent content & on-page, you shouldn't worry about it,

It also depends on how old is the website, current authority, link profile, traffic, etc...
Moving up to the 4th position is a good sign, once the position stabilizes it should be within the top 10

It takes approximately 2 to 4 weeks. Sometimes it will take more time. Also, it depends upon the quality of the links. Just keep the focus on adding more articles and quality backlinks from relevant sources.

Now such high fluctuations in different keywords are quite normal. I follow more than 200 keywords on 10 different websites. This is a situation I frequently encounter, especially with high volume keywords.

No one knows
But it should stabilize after 3-4 months from the date of publishing

Thank you for your answers
It's hard to adapt to this situation!

But we're all happy new year!

There are two googlebots, a desktop crawler simulates user on desktop and mobile crawler that simulates a user on a mobile experience. Both of them score your site seperately.

You might have realized that your mobile and desktop page speed scores are going to be also different if you didnt optimize both.

For the first question, it will depend on your websites overall authority. I've seen rankings completely disappear in serps than suddenly comes back to page 1.

Question is, how old is your website? Is the page you are referring is an orphan page?
And if you are using Rank Math's Index API, you should not use it anymore since its a common problem among the users.

Happy new year.

Thank you for your answer

My website is just over 3 months old and also ranking the main homepage!

But I've never heard of the above story even though I'm still using the rank path index api

Can you tell me in more detail? :)

People don't realize this tool is actually an official Google Tool.

It uses Google's Indexing API, a tool mainly for short-lived content like job postings or live broadcasts. Check out the official documentation for more details: https://developers.google.com/search/apis/indexing-api/v3/quickstart.

You'll see that people complain about it quite often if you check the forum.

In addition, a newly launched website, 3 months old, is very likely to be hit often by Google dance.
