Title says it all. Site had zero on page (not even h1 tag). Very little content. Never got past 151. Site was rebuilt from scratch last Tuesday (new template, all new content, new links to new content, on page on point) & the site continues just to dance between 160 - 390.

I expected an immediate jump considering this one has way better on page but still nothing. I do not have GWT installed.

How long does it take for google to stop by & then recalculate? I asked this in the white hat forum but didn't get a straight answer.

Check the last time your site was crawled by viewing the cache (search your URL on google search engine then click cache). if the last cache date is after when you updated it then it recognizes the changes already. If not you gotta wait till your site is crawled next (speed this up by adding some social bookmarks to your site)

I'd say it takes about a month to get everything reconsidered.. I have had cases where it took 2 months, but my caches seem updated around once a month.

It's looks like visited the site since the rebuild. How long does it take to recalculate the rankings?

I mean the site initially had zero on page. Not even an h1. Now it has on page with good content & it still has the same rankings.

I am guessing I must have a penalty if I went from 0 on page to having pretty decent on page & there was no adjustment in rankings (unless it takes time for google to recalculate)

    Does this sound right?

If you have completely rebuilt a site it takes a minimum of 3 days and usually a max of 30 days for Google to completely re-index the site and count the new content, etc.

Ok so after 30 if the rankings are still stuck at 160 even though I am building backlinks then I must have some kind of penalty. This is a really low competition niche. Majestic says 7 backlinks should put me on page 1. I have over 1k. But the site is only 3 weeks old.
