If you post on open blogs, submit articles etc to web sites, how long does it usually take for those backlinks to be seen and start affecting your google pr?

Also how long does it take for them to show up on a backlink checker? Thank you so much.

depends on the site, ping the remote url that you have your link on if you want them noticed faster, in 24hrs with a mass submission run i went from page 3 to 5th in the serps...

Wow. Thanks for sharing I will be sure to do that. I just dont want to wait months to get backlinks from my articles and other linkbuilding strategies.

So thank you for the advice.

It would be best to build backlinks in as-natural-as-possible manner because if it's too fast there's a big chance google will sandboxed your site. I don't know the exact rule but I guess you can start to build 10 - 20 backlinks a day for a few days and then increase it bit by bit.

Most of Search Engines refreshes their index several times a month.
Yahoo show links faster than Google.
The Search Engines does not display all backlinks right away, but shows only some of them.

I've been toying with the software submission directories and noticed that after about 350 successful submissions, I haven't seen more than 2 or 3 links show up in my logs.

It's funny watching the 1st page results, for me I focus on smaller, local niches - not necessarily local to me, so the competition is pretty small, usually about 100k or so. The 1st page just get slammed with all the soft directories for a few days and whoever was on 1st page gets pushed back real far.

Now it's normalized and things are back to normal, but now I occupy 5 out of the 10 spots of Page 1, the top spots with a mixture of a couple ezinearticles and a few soft directories, and a scribd doc that Google just seems to love...

Now I jsut need my damned site that's still on page 6 to hurry up and catch up, it's about 2.5 weeks old, is this site going too slow?

be patient, get some other link sources while your at it, try social bookmarking as well, really, does it matter if its your site or an article that points to your site 0wning the frontpage? in my experience not, google will work out in time which site should be first so just keep pushing the links and articles and everything else that goes along with it and it will fall into place in time

Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to ping certain urls. I used the command prompt applications, then typed for example,

ping http://www.site.com/123/123/123.html

and it won't work, should i be using another program or command?

Thanks

Im lost sorry, is there a program i can use to ping a blog that is updated and if so do i simply enter the command ping http://www.websiteblog.com/index2.html

You can always use Pingler...hxxp://www.pingler.com or as someone already mentioned, Pingomatic. If you have a WordPress blog you can load a list of sites (in the blog's settings)that you want the blog to ping each time you publish.

Macwatson if u are trying to ping other services to let them know that you have updated your blog/site, use the services I just listed above.

Videos show up almost immediately. I uploaded two yesterday and have increased my links by about 1000 today. Once you upload to many of the video sites, other sites automatically pick them up and give you massive links.

Depends on the page rank on the site where the link is? if that sites pings to bring the SEO borgs for quick indexing etc... Can be many factors but usually not more than a month unless the host site is having indexing problems.
